Sassafras look alike
    #25368554 -

I was out looking for sassafras.
Anyone know what this is? It has similar characters but the tri leaf is not a sassafras. Thanks!

It´s not any of the Sassafras varietys.
Sassafras also have a 3 leaf structure but they have more of a single leaf with 3 points.
Somebody here from the us probably knows the local flora and will tell you.

I transplanted some sassafras last winter, they didn’t leaf out this spring. I was pretty bummed out. I was planning on using it in my yard in place of a dogwood tree. Sassafras grown as an understory tree has a nice shape and pretty colors in the fall. I thinks it’s under rated and under used. The OP should be able to find some sass in his area. I see them near water a lot of times, but that’s not a necessity.

Have a river behind my house, I think I will walk it some time this week. I thought a out planting some. I have 3 dead Ash trees in my yard due to the rediculous Rmerald Ash Borer ruined them. So I think I am going to chop them down and plant some sassy.

Nice Sassafras Nube
It look very good.

I hope i can get the chineese variant to germinate and grow.
It´s said to be 97% safrole in the oil versus 80% for the american variant.
But with my luck it´s probably very hard to get growing.
Im happy if i can get either of them growing.

tzumu?    What kind of temps do you need for that or is it similar to a normal sass? Hoping this works out for you. I may have to try a grow myself, I like the looks of it.
