Borderline Personality Disorder and mushrooms. * 1
    #25206579 -

Hopefully I've snagged the attention of someone on here with BPD and either microdoses or just trips regularly.

Trying to scrounge up information on mental health after tripping.

I'll gladly take note of any other mental disorders that are eased by dosing as well.
For science.

Depends on the meds you're on. Depending on what they are, shrooms won't do shit for you.

I know someone with BPD who has tripped, but I don't know if she microdosed or not, nor how much it actually helped or hurt her BPD.  I'll ask her but it might be a while before I get a response or not at all.  Not exactly something I want to push. lol.

I can say for certain though that anyone with BPD needs to be careful around psychedelics.  They are powerful and can make things far worse or far better but science is generally still out on how beneficial if at all, and if you need it while getting therapy, etc etc.

I would be very very very wary and careful about self experimentation without a very responsible and experience trip sitter who will not only keep you safe, but knows how to handle bad trips and people with BPD  in case shit goes south in a bad way.

Yeah, but I'm talking about that positive (or negative) response. Not necessarily the finer details.
Id be interested in the medicated and non medicated response.

Though for personal reasons, un-medicated os preferable.

@freeze folks with borderline personality disorder can be hard to contact at times. No pressure.

So I somehow read this wrong and I swore you posted about Bipolar, not borderline.  Being they are 2 separate disorders I'm not sure if any of this is helpful or not, but they are similar and micro dosing/psychedelics has been shown to be helpful for a lot of various mood related illnesses.

Friend tripped both in normal doses and micro dosing.  She said it helped a great deal with bipolar and depression.  As well as other issues I'm going to not specifically mention as they are not relevant and could be private and are mostly irrelevant to this conversation.  Fine tuning most likely required and it may or may not actually help you, so don't go in with high expectations, especially at first.  Some of the things it helped with are normal with just tripping like self realization of problems, habits, etc, kind of stuff.

She said to check some of the guides out there on micro dosing (which you obviously should do anyway) and to really respect the tolerance build up and spacing in between.  As most people here know you build tolerance to psychedelics very very quickly (within hours of ingestion) and it takes a bit to get out.  She also practiced other techniques like meditation, bin-aural beats, breathing exercises, trip planning and then dosing.

You would want to make sure your source is good.  I'd be highly skeptical of anything you're being sold as LSD, as research chems are rife in the scene for being passed off as LSD, and some of them are pretty nasty with body load, others even harmful and dangerous.  She recommended trying to get psilocybin extracted or near extracted from mushrooms, by yourself ideally, if only to help with the body load and nausea.  I've personally taken small doses of mushrooms (half a gram to 1 gram) and definitely felt the body load even though I had almost no head space change.  I am sensitive to them and they give me seizures however so that's just extra information for you to add in regarding dose to body load for people.

She said vitamins, eating well, sleep, general self care was the most important part of it all though to have a healthy baseline to direct a positive trajectory from.

She was not taking any other meds beyond vitamins/supplements.  Additionally, a lot of the meds prescribed for bipolar and borderline actually block the effects of psychedelics completely or in such an amount you won't notice them.  Standard SSRI/MAOI rules apply basically.  Be very careful if prescribed these things when trying to take psychedelics or mood altering stuff like MDMA.  It can cause all sorts of whacko brain chemistry interactions.

You didn't really give any specifics on what you were looking for so that's the general jist.  If you have specific questions not answered there just let me know and I'll pass it on and get back to you.

My experience with BPD, through my ex-wife, was only of her trying shrooms whilst on medication. I can't recall now which ones she was on the one time she got anything from them, but after they switched her medication pretty much nothing other than narcotics would affect her.

If they've got you on anti-depressants, I'd come off them anyway, since none of them seem to actually help with BPD and they all have horribly shitty side effects. Perhaps then, like freeze says, with a good sitter or microdosing.

My heart goes out to you man, it's a fucked up condition to handle.

A lot to respond to there.
Sorry for the intentional vagueness, I dont have BPD, but someone close to me does, struggled with it all their life, and suffers from all 9 precursors of BPD, as well as other disorders.
Again, no meds, cept smoking a bit every day.
No MAOIs/SSRIs.
Im moving in to the 3rd week, dosing once a week after 7-8 days.
Writing down variations and anything that takes interest.

The most notable thing is little to no intrusive thoughts or suicidal thoughts.
The depression is lessened, but we're only 3 weeks in.

Sure nothing could come from this.
But its worth a shot I figure.

Oh. I wish you'd been clear about it from the start.

If dosing 1x/week has had such beneficial effects, I suspect microdosing could be even moreso.

I'm a big fan of microdosing.

Im not much of a micro doser. I just prefer to trip.

Ive been dosing them with anywhere between .5g-1.5g every week.

I'm aiming to keep it at .5 but last time they wanted more.
If I can keep this going long term to study it with positive feedback I'll be happy to eventually report the findings

That's an interesting perspective, considering you're discussing someone with BPD dosing in order to asses their response to it.

Why is your personal preference relevant in any way here?

Its irrelevant. Ignore the useless information

Im just interested in trying to benefit someone else with micro dosing.
Frankly if I can stop the intrusive and suicidal thoughts with this I'll consider it somewhat of a success.

I disagree with dosing having bipolar disorder. I've seen it first hand bring to the surface major changes in personality and mood, and it can be pretty dangerous, especially with strong doses. This year, i had to help baker act a friend of mine who triggered a major manic episode with paychotic/grandiose features from dosing frequently and a lot. She had taken doses before here and there and had been fine, but it's very clear the hallucinogens were what brought the disorder back to the surface, and the foundation was likely the major stress she incurred from being kicked out of nursing school months and months before, as well as having her daught taken away by the dad during then as well. Months and months had passed since that time but i don't think she had processed it properly.

This was not the first time either, in 2010 she induced a paychotic manic episode by taking acid and 2ct7(?) and some other things. I've seen this reaction in my other friend who has bipolar as well.

Borderline is different. There is still mood dysregulation, but the biology is different. Suicidal thoughts can occur with bpd and hallucinogens but it's not going to set off some extended episode. These substance can help in dealing some of the trauma that may have gotten them where they are in the first place, and maybe cope and deal with depressive issues.

Beware, though. At higher doses, especially with mushrooms, the lines of fantasy and reality can be blurred, and emotional storms can occur. Be sure to remind them that if they find themselves in a situation like this, to sit down in a quiet and safe place and try meditation, allowing the thoughts to come and go with non-judgement, focusing on breathing until things have calmed down.

I was just passing on the information from a friend.  In regards to the best possible options, its not to take psychedelics at all, seek a doctor and professional advice, and combine it with therapy.  I think we need a lot more real scientific study in this area to say conclusively one way or the other, especially with micro-dosing, and any sort of self diagnosis and treatment has inherent risks.  Especially since the underlying physical causes for a lot of mood related mental illness is poorly understood as it is, very hard to measure in a normal clinic setting, and psychedelics have effects on serotonin and dopamine.

A note to add on this. My BPD ex-wife had a bad trip on IM Ketmine once after we had previously done it together many times before. It was absolutely horrific, and I'm almost 100% sure it gave her PTSD and severely affected her for a long time after.

You are playing with fire here, so you need to be very, very careful.

Im exercising caution of course. Recklessness will only cause more harm than good.
Sure im playing with fire but I'm doing that regardless with this person.

They've attempted suicide multiple times and actually succeeded once but was brought back after a few days.
Suicidal thoughts are literally a constant.

So for the past 3 weeks having only a few minor bouts of intrusive thoughts is quite an improvement.

Theres no other substance use aside from weed, less alcohol than normal, and the weekly micro-dosing.

In regards to seeing a Dr or Therapist, none of that has helped her in the past and she doesnt think it'll help now.
She OD'd on her meds in the past and now is very hesitant to use anything other than ibuprofen or excedrin.

I'm noting everything, providing positive environments during the micro dose time period, and being my regular supportive self.

Sadly this hasn't done anything for the crippling anxiety. You win some you lose some.

It's fairly common for the people who NEED therapy the most to think that it isn't working or they don't need it.  All you need to do is scan the posts in this very forum to see it first hand.  However, there is proof it helps, and generally its those on the outside looking a the person in question who see it.  You really should push for them to see a therapist of some sort while they do their microdosing.  It won't be that hard to find a therapist who might actually encourage and assist with it with a little looking around, within legal bounds of course.  Multiple studies with a few different illegal drugs have already shown great promise when used in a therapy setting with a doctor.

It's just her life, no real big cost if something goes wrong, right? ...

Absolutely. Happens a lot. My ex-wife spent countless thousands on therapy only to pay them lip service. So of course it didn't work.

This is common. I got more from fifteen months of therapy than she did from fifteen years because I don't have BPD and don't really need therapy.

She even laughed off DBT like it was all obvious and therefore she was above it and didn't allow it in.

The more I see from Whiskey Man the more I think what he's doing is inappropriate.

Which reminds me- shes seen multiple therapists, and she doesnt really feel the sessions with any of them.

They have X problem or Y biz goin on each time. They're too spiritual, or they mitigate her problems. Claiming she doesnt have the problems she has and whatnot.

If she found one that she was comfortable with and worked with her she'd stick with it.

As it stands relaxing in a salt rock chamber just doesnt do it for her.
In the meantime I'm doing everything I can to keep her goin.

That kind of wild assumption as to what goes on in a person that isn't you is what makes me feel that you're absolutely not in a position to be doing what you're doing.

God I hope you don't make things worse for this poor girl.
