How I Grafted Lophophora williamsii var. Caespitosa onto Trichocereus pachanoi * 1
    #24937805 -

Hey all, id like to share my progress of my graft. What i did was I just shaped the top of the san pedro, made a fresh slice on the bottom of each cutting and made sure the cores were lined up. To hold it in place I then carefully put a stocking that id cut shorter over the cactus and hooked it on with the spikes like so: (but tighter)

No super glue involved!

After a few weeks of keeping it in shade/partial shade and a few checks, i noticed that its started staying in place by itself and the Loph looks very much alive, so im sure that the two have joined. I will continue to share progress at it grows older and starts pupping. Here it is now:

Grafting can be alot easier than it seems  Feel free to share your grafts!

That pup at the bottom may suck energy away from the graft. I know a lot of people who say to cut them off right away, others who keep them growing and graft to them too!

Id cut that base pup unless you gonna graft something to then. Then it would be wise to do so, have it attached, and cut it as close to the base and root it seperately.

Good stuff Entheopsybin.:asianofapproval:

Hah that's very nice

I have a couple multiple grafts like that now, for novelty value alone though.

Aside from that it would always be recommended to cut off pups and start them on their own (preferably grafted) because they can have their own root systems.
Multiple grafts etc are not efficient of course as you are spreading the growing energy over them.

This is the progress, the top one didnt make it as it was knocked off and the cactus never had enough strength for me to regraft to the top, cause of this baby  :peyotespectrum:

Also that little pup grew.. :rasta:

Sweeet   how big is that caesp now?

I grafted a quadruple caesp on selenicereus today and a bunch more loph types and matucana. One had already taken. The pups are all still very small.

Remove the pedro pup on the top of that column. It will divert energy from your scion otherwise.
