No ssri's don't antagonize, you are thinking of antipsychotics.

Ssri's block reuptake.  The fact they cause cross tolerance is disturbing.

I read you first post and no one elses. Ive been a masters level co-occurring counselor for 10 years working on the d now. I do not prescribe medicine and do not make anything off of clients taking meds. They are a tool. Like anything. If you need to clear the fog with anti-depressants so you have the motivation simply to get out of bed in the morning your quality of life improves 10 fold just from that.

If you take meds and do nothing else but ride your cycle of depression and anxiety without reconstructing unproductive and self defeating thoughts, building coping skills, increasing meaning, fulfillment, and social relationships then of course they wont work in the long run.

Also, if you are currently unstable stimulants like MDMA, if that's even what it actually was in there, can cause increase in symptoms or decompensation after reaching stability. What goes up must come down. And your down seems more down than the average person.

Dont just take meds. Work out those issue. EMDR therapy is great, low risk therapy to relieve symptoms of past trauma.

Im a non-traditional choice/reality therapist. Basically you can't decide if it will rain or shine. you can bring an umbrella just in case. You always control your reaction to your reality if not your reality itself.

also, careful what you do take if you choose to go on meds. something like ayahuasca can cause serotonin toxicity/ syndrome.

One of the worst things about depression is people treating you like a retard and blaming you for not feeling "better".

It simply is something so devastating seeing the lack of care and empathy pulsing from people who seem like ungrateful earth-raping demons pretending/thinking themselves to be invincible.

Guess you don't know what you have until you lose it. Not hating on anyone here, just saying what it felt like to me. People literally fuck you up if they cannot use you anymore. That's what becomes apparent...Just people using one another for this diluted sense of "pleasure" which isn't love at all...People feeling unified in their shitty ways.

Therapy sucks.  The meds suck.  It's all people thinking like narcissists that have no clue how you feel.

They are usually stuck in theory and in the left field.  Waste of money and life.  Hardly anything they do is based on concrete fact.  Too low of monoamines your depressed, too high your psychotic.  Nobody even knows what reality is.  Is the media reality?  Is the consumerism reality?  Is the point of life to be a self protecting prick with money then die?  Cause that's what mental health is.  They are there for money.  Their system sucks and most patients know no better and believe every shit they are told.

They fear negativity and sorry but life isn't all puppies and rainbows!  Can't put a happy spin or diagnosis on everything.

Ever notice that they only focus on faults yet deny their own?  They have a horrid history of systematic abuse.  Lobotomies are still legal, shock therapy is still done.  It's mind control and not to empower anyone.  It's social control.  They only want to see you play their game according to their rules.  No need to improve society.

But there is a good side to staff too.  If you don't mind worshipping them like a cult.  And it is a cult!

Well, I feel better. Pretty cool placebo effect I'm getting at the moment.

Yeah, me too, man. This placebo effect has stopped the path of destruction that bipolar disorder had me on. Gotta love placebos.

Frannie, I want to just quote pretty much everything you've posted in this thread for truth.

--------------------
"Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story."

I agree

I think SSRIs are overall very damaging drugs to your mental health

But do what you want

Can y'all shut the fuck up? Attitudes like yours are what prevent so many people from seeking and obtaining the help they need, thus keeping them in a cycle of suffering.

OP, due to intense childhood trauma and abuse, I've suffered with severe depression and dissociation most of my life. I didn't seek professional medical help until Christmas of my sophomore year of college (~2015) because I was at my rope's end: being constantly emotionally manipulated and abused by my mother (who likely herself has undiagnosed PTSD caused by her  own childhood experiences with the Biafran Civil War in Nigeria in the 60s and abuse at the hands of her family) during such a pivotal point in my young adult life, feeling like I couldn't live or make choices for myself because my African parents were so bent on ensuring I lived FOR them/was a vessel to live vicariously thru, almost being asked to leave the university because of my 1.9 GPA, crying almost daily at the thought of having to possibly share the same roof with my abuser again after tasting sweet freedom and peace at college for the first time, and just dealing with general self-loathing/hate, constant suicidal ideation, history of self-harm and disordered eating, etc. I recognize that my life definitely was not as bad as others, but it was bad enough for me, and I was at a serious risk of harming/killing myself.

So I made an appt. with the campus counseling center, had my first session/consultation with a psychiartrist, was prescribed 50 mg of Celexa at the time and sent to a therapist for the next year. It took a couple of weeks for my body to adjust to the medication (my sleep schedule got kind of messed up, I had zero appetite, had minor visual hallicinations, and more, but in retrospect, they honestly
were peanuts compared to the turmoil I was experiencing before I got on them. And that's fine because the purpose of these SSRI's is to get you and your brain to a good enough place to where you feel like you can cultivate the habits needed to tackle your mental health issues without medication, and then you wean off. And you work with doctors + health professionals every step of the way so that everyone's on the same page).

Everyone that I was sent to or went to for help was kind, empathetic, and completely committed to ensuring my recovery, and I am endlessly grateful for them; they've helped me change my entire life.

These days, I'm on 150 mg of Sertraline. Side effects are minimal and I'm currently trying to wean off because I feel like I'm in a healthy enough place mentally and can begin working toward optimal health without this crutch.

Ultimately, life's pretty neat and wild at the same time, and I've accepted that
everyone has their own hangups and traumas that need to be worked thru, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for help. Because we can't do it by ourselves.

Immense love from me to you, OP. Feel free to PM me if you ever want to talk. :flowers:

I never had mental problems mostly, until I took paxil.

Went to counseling at 5 when grandma died.  Did therapy in jr high cause I hated mom from her abusing us.  Was off meds for 9 years and had court ordered therapy.

I still treat treatment like probation, and it is like probation.

If normal life is my only hope, I have no hope.  Normal seems pretty fucked.  But I can somewhat fake normal life.

I had sever anxiety for years until I finally bit the bullet and went to the docs.  I did behavioral therapy for months without success.  They put me on Citalopram and boom, anxiety was almost non existent. My anxiety didn't stem from any past events, i've had it my whole life.  I just didn't know what it was.  I made it clear to my doc I didn't want anything that changes my personality or energy.  Literally the only effect this had was on my anxiety, and partially sex drive.  Withdrawal is a bitch  though if i forget to take it.  It also is seeming to fuck with my post shroom mood.  As in I get depressed and angry.  Kinda like a shroom hangover.  But other than those things, my anxiety being gone is a God send
