It's an addiction if it negatively impacts your life the amount is irrelevant. Same with alcohol which I'm also in recovery from.

On the other hand, some people (myself included) have had sex so incredible it feels like union between man, woman and God.

I believe you but I still think it's non essential. Pretty much anything worthwhile is earned by deprivation. If you want to save you have to deny yourself spending your whole check. If you want to lose weight you can't be gluttonous. If you want a higher spiritualism you deny spilling your seed.

Perhaps it could be considered non-essential once one knows what it is, but I strongly feel it is essential for growth for us all to experience it at some point.

Your analogies don't fit. One need never lose weight if one has never been gluttonous in the first place. One would not know higher spiritualism if ones seed had not been spilled at some point.

I think the reason you don't like my way of doing things is sex is a large part of your identity. I understand that you enjoy it and I am sure I would as well but simple enjoyment is not what drives me anymore.

You say this aspect of humanity is non-essential, and I disagree.

The fact that you resort to personalisms at this stage just makes it looks like you can't defend your viewpoint.

You have chosen to abstain after experiencing it, but it sounds to me like you are suggesting that a human need never experience it, and would still be able to attain peak spiritual growth.

I do not believe that to be the case, and I'm inviting you to prove me wrong.

Look my view of the matter is chasing hedonism leads to emptiness. I'm not going to convince you your views are set as are mine. However I challenge you try no masturbation or sex for 30 days then come back and tell that abstinence is useless.

Fair play man, I appreciate that and we'll agree to disagree. Not gonna bother with the 30 day thing; like I said, I did 22 very recently and it did nothing for me so I can't see what good an extra 8 days is gonna do. Daily meditation alone does 50x more for me than abstinence does.

But then, I'm a wild, testosterone fueled, hedonistic motherfucker, and I really enjoy being one. I feel incredibly fulfilled at this point in my life.

Horses for courses huh? Your way works well for you and mine works well for me.

Let's leave it at that.
