Shrooms can be a legit LOT of work, i think we all enjoy it and the reward but damn. If you really think about it...and till recently ive been fully pasteurizing my subs so thats like hours of prepping and cooking. Reverted to bucket tek like everyone else, seems to be fine, and makes the only real work the setup of grain jars and collecting/drying fruit.
now i guess the most work-heavy part is setting up the grain jars. Pouring agar takes some practice too

Maybe im just lazy these days :P

Its all about incentive. I actually much prefer to do my myco work in the daytime these days. Especially using the PC, making jars and all that.

Bran? Use some grain water. Boil a bit o extra grain and use that.

Bran comes from the outer layer of whole grains. It's used in edible production as supplementation for sawdust blocks
to up yields. I built the sterilizer for shiitake blocks so I would hate to ruin my first run by not supping.

Maybe oat flour might work:strokebeard: I'll make a post about it in GM

I hear that.  I am taking it easy tonight as well.  Did some maintenance, and have been researching various active species' growth parimeters (mainly all the ones I have on agar), as well as shopping around for a woodchipper, and power washer.  I do have a few things I want to do tonight like noc up a few plates with my Gymnopilus thiersii & Ventricosus, Psilocybe cubensis Xupari, and a couple of other oddities I have in the lab that I can't remember the names of, but that's what I want to do.  Get in the lb and noc up the aforementioned spores, and go through what I have looking for the rare stuff and noc them all up to agar.

One thing that is a pretty common trait amongst Penis Envy varities is that they like lots of water.  At one air exchanger per hour, 70-75F temps, and an ambient humidity holding at around 60% these things prefer to be soaked 2 times a day.

Scored a 50lb bag of wheat bran at my local feed store. They also have 50lb whole wheat for 11 bucks! Same price as whole
oats here. Thinkin of gettin myself a sack when they reup. Anyone use wheat?

Sadly no midnight myco work for me tonight. Got work at 5am but tomorrow I'm going hard on these sawdust bags:rockon:

Nice Nate.  I got all my Myco stuff done today, so I am personally happy to report no midnight mycology this evening.  Inoculated a few plates with a few year old Xapuri print today.  Fingers crossed it germinates.  Would be fun to re-release that one back into the community.

Tissue samples from hericium and turkey tail I found today put on plates.

Nice find mine are 14.99 regular for red winyer wheat amd 8.99 o sale trippp(pinpornproducer) has a wheat write uo so far i like the wheat better then the oats havent grown anything yet but muc loks way better colonizing it ..



Im making 40 plates of agar right now and made 20 masters and 4 spawn bags will be doing alot tomorrow along with 9 more tubs

2:45 AM...Up early...Sadly just drinking coffee and smoking weed...Not too much to do...Running up a few more 14 liter sterilites, soaking grain for spawn and working on my hepa cabinet and bench...
