Honestly I've heard military advisers say the obesity epidemic is screwing us if we ever had need for a draft. Most people who even are eligible for it will probably die of cardiovascular disease in basic training. The rest would need a year or more of vigorous training to be in decent enough shape to be of any use in the field.

Not to say a good amount of people couldn't be soldiers but we'd be hard pressed to produce the infantry we had in WWII, even though our population is twice as large.


Alot of things in the military you could be considering addressing but cutting eligible people out because you clearly don't understand them probably isn't one of those things.

Conscription is ineffective anyways, an unwilling soldier is just cannonfodder with a high probability of kicking rocks and starting a chain reaction. Waste of money, training, equipment and potential manufacturing power.

If there is a war, we'll have all the volunteers we need, just like after 911

The equalizer with the obese is guns and weaponry . Make the planes a tad biggger, use the super fat for MODERN sniping "obviously not crawling or moving" Use the even fatter for cyberwarefare,economic warfare and remote controlled weapons . There would be a minimum weight requirement all that jazz.

If it really came down to it, like world war III going badly, they would put everyone to use, no doubt. They have throughout history. "Black people are subhuman cretins!" "We could really use them in the holding of guns though."

"We can't send women to war! it's not their place or their nature for violence and the horrors of war!" "Well we could have them in the back helping take care of the wounded, it's a perfect role for them."

That's american military. Other military takes just about anyone into the infantry if they can do what needs to be done. None of the mass projected theoretical what ifs... can you climb ladders? Can you run, duck, crouch, lift, jump, and shoot? Yes? Good now go kill ISIS because our country is getting fucked.

Those militaries are also garbage

Look at Macedon, Rome, Imperial England, Napoleon, Nazi Germany and the US
The greatest militaries in history have not relied on hoards of under trained, under equipped troops

Honestly in terms of things that are in serious need of aid I would put the military at the bottom. We're behind in basically everything else and our infrastructure is decaying to shit.
