Well Jester, about your SOS question. The SOS (sea of shrooms) is a method used to lower the possibility of lossing a large or regular size casing to contams. Basically it's just using a smaller amount of substrate (SOS is 1/2 of a colonized cake) per container, in this case its a solo brand cup that takes up very little space. Your question is missing a few details to really answer your question. Are you saying your still going to follow the basic method of the SOS (which is to use a small amount of colonized substrate) but just put in it a larger container? That would work, but take up ALOT of space and be a waist of surface area. Or, are you saying you want to CASE a few cakes in this 1 foot container you speak of? If so, yes, this would be a regular casing method and would work fine.

You don't need a heating pad or a blanket, try the fan by itself. If the atmosphere isn't too humid then you should be able to get them almost completely dried with that.
