would this work (drying)

my only method of drying is by using a fan. could i speed up the drying process if i split my shrooms down the middle so it could dry the inside faster. is there any chance of losing potency by doing this. thanx fi you can help

It would dry them faster, but you would also lose potency to oxidation. Just get them half dry and set up a dessication chamber to dry them the rest of the way, you can get Damp-Rid at your local *-mart store.

Tired of pimping yourself on the corner to afford spores? Well throw out that red dress and go to the FSR, for spores even you can afford.

I am actually starting to use a different method for drying (specified in Simple Cube grow tek at growmushrooms.org) but before that I just used to put them in the oven, whole on 30 - 35 degrees Celcius, fan bake. I know everyone says heat ruins them but in my personal experience loss of potency is minimal if at all existent. I'm pretty sure it has to get a fair bit hotter than 30 degrees to ruin 'em, afterall they grow best down here in warm, humid conditions around 30 degrees in the wild and they're fine.

i also have a question about drying... what about setting them in front of a de-humidifier....

Any moving air over the shrooms will help, but I think that the de-humidifier wouldn't get them as bone-dry as a chemical desiccant. But I may be wrong, try it out, let us know.
