 About drying those little guys.....

I was wondering if just letting the little ones sit out a few days to dry (using nothing else) affects the potency at all? sometimes i use a fan, but usually i just let them sit.....is this an ok method?

It would be much better to use a fan and dessicant. Normal air drying just doesnt cut it.

I would think your main concern would be rotting mushrooms after you sit them out awhile.
Why don't you just use either a fan drying tek, or using dessicant? It's a hell of alot less of a headache.

When you use the fan, how do you position the fan over the mushrooms? Do you hang the fan over the shrooms with the fan blowing down on them? Or off to the side blowing accross them?

I suppose it wouldn't hut the potency per se...
What I am trying to get across though, is that if you leave some mushrooms out in the open to dry on their own... They will rot, mold, grode, whatever you want to call it (just like anything would... leave a piece of fruit out awhile, does it get cracker dry first? or does it mold up and stink? would you eat it?)... This would happen BEFORE they got dry. Depending on the humidity in your area of course, but more often then not they will.
So what i'm saying is asking the question of how that method effects potency is ludicras, because are you really going to eat rotten mushrooms?
That is why everyone is telling you to dry them.
Now it is an entirely different story if you take fresh mushrooms and just eat them, throw them on a pizza, whatever. But just lieing them out and expecting them to dry just will not work out. I'm trying to tell you before you do it and end up with a shitload of uneatable mushrooms.

ty, for ur concern......but maybe it's the dryness in the air here, cuz they DO get dry.....i just didn't know if it would hurt the potency....just letting them sit out for a little while....they usually dry in like 2 days. Not cracker dry, but dry.

josh, to finally answer you question; fan drying and dessicant drying will not hurt potency any more than letting them sit to dry. it is a fact that dried shrooms are generally less potent than fresh ones, also variable to the strain but you will not notice a difference in potency from 3 days of just sitting there and an overnight of dessicant.

Thanks Abudiwa!
The Tek is now being hosted by the Sporelab and the link is at the bottom of my post. The pictures that Captain Max used when he posted the Tek are not the newest ones. The best ones remain in the post Abudiwa has already pasted. I still have to contact Max and ask him to change the pics, but I have been busy (lazy), but mostly busy.
