nice... those would work for more applications too.  I lost a couple of rye spawn bags of Tamps.  One went green at the injection point.  One went black in the middle (yuck).  I got one I am 50/50 on and one I think is good.

I love using these as well. Especially for multispore inoculation. Lots of area.
Although I don't use filters on any of my no pours, just reversed lids, and they all work fine.

I once herd that method of gas exchange referred to as "hippy flipping", so that's what I'v called it ever since.  I also used to hippy flip the lids, but it gave me problems.

It wan't until I discovered that air will enter, and exit through the point of least resistance, and adopted the idea of "wanting nothing, but filtered air entering my media vessels" that I begun taking measures for filtered gas exchange, and enjoying a 100% success as a result.  Started at tyvek, and worked my way up to synthetic filter disks.

 I will have to use that term from now on.
Yes I have thought about that as well but honestly I have had no mold contamination on my agar since starting this way. I experience bacterial contam from ms from time to time but thats about it. I use a SAB.
I will admit though, those look far more visually appealing and seem like theyd be easier to work with than rings.

Tyvek and SFDs always sound appealing- but I've had zero trouble with polyfil and it looks way easier and has still lasted me years. My last run of 40 jars had a 100% success rate. Is it more of a personal preference or do you see it as integral to you Hamloaf?

It's both.  Not only do they look good they are virtually zero maintenance, as they can be reused for as long as you live.  Merely cut, and paste once, or use the whole disk.  The silicone used to adhere the disks to the lids will ware out several times before the disks do.

Would you consider sfds indefinite (within a person lifetime of growing) because it takes a bit for silicone to ware.
