Did you sterilize the perlite before you put it in the terrarium? Are you sure its not a mushroomy smell?

Yes, I did sterilize the perlite before putting it in the terrium. I don't believe it was a mushroomy smell. What are the cakes supposed to smell like? Do they sometimes stink... kind of like a musty smell? It started smelling skunky after being in there for three or four days. I could be mistaken, though... it MIGHT be the cakes.

Musty smell?Yes. Skunky smell? No.
I suggest baking the perlite dry, boiling your water and pouring a little hydrogen peroxide (after the water cools) in.

What do I know though!?!?

You shouldnt have a problem if you sterilized your perlite. Your cakes should smell like any fresh mushrooms.
