I just got a great idea, with a meal that big the snake wouldnt need to eat often. If they sacrificed their shittiest villager like once a month they could keep the snake fed. You just hold a vote every month. That way there is some incentive to be liked by your peers also. The assholes would be watching themselves and the snake would be put to good use.

If someone pisses you off you dont worry about it or get into a fight. You just think "alright buddy, we will see about that when you're tied to the snake tree getting strangled."
