A case where reality is scarier than fiction: Indonesian man eaten by a python
    #24204255 -

Horror films with monsters...well how about this for a real life horror story and monster.

In Indonesia a man went missing. And when they found him, he was being digested in the stomach of a 23 foot long reticulated python.

http://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/03/29/python-swallows-man-whole-video-shows-body-inside-cut-open-snake/

Quote:
An Indonesian man left his village Sunday to harvest palm oil, the BBC reported, but after he had been missing for 24 hours, a search party from Salubiro on the island of Sulawesi was sent out.

Soon, they found a reported 23-foot-long reticulated python, the BBC said. The New York Times reported that the shape of shoes were visible below the surface of its belly.

The villagers chased the python and killed it, the Times said. Then video was taken as they slowly sliced open the snake, revealing the body of the missing man, the Times added. He was a 25-year-old named Akbar, the BBC reported.

Villagers heard shouting on the day of the attack, the Times reported, citing a village official named Junaedi who briefed the media Tuesday. But the official said it was assumed the shouting was just someone hunting pigs, and there were no cries for help, the paper said.

Pythons capture their prey using their long teeth and then kill by constricting. Reticulated pythons — which can grow to more than 30 feet in length, LiveScience said — have reportedly been known to attack humans, according to the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America.

“Pythons are nonvenomous ambush predators,” wildlife biologist Sara E. Viernum told LiveScience. “Some species are capable of swimming and may lie partially submerged in shallow water waiting for prey to visit the water body.”

Wahdi Azmi, director of wildlife studies on the veterinary faculty of Syiah Kuala University in the Banda Aceh Province, told the Times the recent attack was “a rare case of a python eating a person.”

there's a video of them cutting the snake open in the link if anybody's interested

yikes

I love how the solution was to hunt it down and kill it.  Like why? The guy is already dead.

If a snake had killed and eaten me I would be so puissed off if they killed it, because then my death would have been completely in vain.

There is also a fear that an animal that attacks and eats a person will or has gone "rouge" and would hunt more people. It has happened before.

Thats true with tigers, they know all about that in India.

I guess with pythons too. He has noticed humans before and now hes big enough to try taking one and succeeding in doing so, that opens up a whole new world of big game to him. An abundant, clumsy, weak 150 lbs animal, predator heaven.

If the snake lived or died it would still be in vain

Quote:
A story was discovered by Pune-based author Sureshchandra Warghade when he ran into an old villager in the Bhimashankar forest which lies near Pune. The villager explained to the author how a man-eating tiger terrorized the entire Bhimashakar area during a span of two years in the 1940s. He was a police constable in that area and he had been responsible for dealing with the formalities surrounding the deaths (missing person reports and death certificates) and other jobs such as helping the hunting parties. During this time the tiger supposedly killed more than 100 people, but it was apparently very careful to avoid discovery; only 2 bodies were ever found. Several hunting parties were organized but the only one to succeed was an Ambegaon-based hunter named Ismail. During his first attempt, Ismail had a direct confrontation with the tiger and was almost killed. He later called Kenneth Anderson. They returned and eliminated the man-eater. The tiger predominately killed the villagers who slept outside the huts.

The authenticity of the story told by the villager was confirmed when Warghade examined official reports, including a certificate given by the British authorities for killing the man-eating tiger.

Because its a man eater. A family just lost a son/husband/father. We are just going to let the snake hang out around a village with children?

If there is something eating your people you worry about your people. You dont let it slide because the animal was hungry.

If we are going to be like that and just say fuck it let nature do its thing then why are we sitting here in houses on computers? If its immoral to make the wilderness safer for people then why dont we just live outside?

Yeah snakes are quite different from mammals. Most land mammals are intelligent enough to know we can and do kill them and it's best not to fuck with us. Snakes and sharks only recognize immediate threats and won't remember a human being killing another of its kind.

Ya that just seems like common sense.  You can't just let a man eating Predator slither this way and that wherever it wants until it's gets hungry and eats another human.  You kill it.  It's been going on since the beginning of man.

So basically humans can raise hundreds upon hundreds of animals only to be killed in a slaughterhouse and no one bats an eye, but one snake eats one person and all of a sudden everyone loses their minds

First of all nobody supports factory farms. Anybody who sees the videos of what happens in those places understands that its fucked.

second of all only like two people were pissed off that the snake got killed
