Mark All Posts Read

I go into a forum all the posts are in the usual "you haven't read any of this" bold

i click a topic, read it, and then click the link back to forum at the top to go back to the topics list.

lo and behold it's as if i have clicked "mark all posts read". topics i have clicked on are in the usual "you've been here" visited link color. all other topics are in the usual "you've read this thread but there is new content" not bold but not visited color.

what gives?

meh. deleted cookies4.dat (Opera) and it was back to normal.

i'm certain that the shroomery server is doing something a bit funny with the cookies. if i set opera to allow any and all cookies everything works fine all the time. if i restrict cookies to allowed sites only (allowed cookies must first be established and then restrictions set) i get all sorts of weird problems. i'm having this problem right now. sure, deleting cookies works... for a little while. setting opera to accept all cookies works too but i don't browse like that... ever.

best i can figure is that the server is trying to change some part of the cookie in a way that opera's filters won't allow.

edit: i noticed that either i forgot where the link is or it is gone. the "mark all posts read" link i mean.
