Brown... I'm confused
    #2391585 - 03/01/04 04:30 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

Hey all. This is my first time growing, and just like when is started to see mycelium and i didn't know what it was, i'm not sure if what i'm seeing now is contamination. I really wish i had a picture for you all, but basically the cake on the side that i'm talking about is kind of caved in and it looks like there is a brown mixed in with the white myc. I'm not sure however if it is just the BRF and verm mix showing through, because they have not colonized well AT ALL: they've been incubating for 3 weeks now, and all i've gotten is a few spots about the size of a quarter, and that brown stuff. Needless to say i'm kind of angry, because i bought a strain that was suppose to be anti-allthatshit.  Koh Sumui Super Strain, anyone ever use it? I got it from ryche. :mushroom2:

Will all the big boomers please unveil, please unveil, please unveil.

Could be bacterial. . .does it have a wet appearance?  Could it be overly-moist BRF?  Watch to make sure it doesn't grow.  If it doesn't grow, but doesn't colonize properly, you may have to join the ranks of the many who have pitched jars and gotten pissed about it   Whether it's contaminated or not, you can't do much with a cake that doesn't colonize all the way. . .

It's taking too long to colonize.
Don't expect too much from it....
