red/brown contamination

I went to case my mycelium tonight, and boy was I in for a surprise. There were streaks of brown only visible through the glass. Not only that but there was a redish color visible throughout the middle of the cakes! I assumed both were contamination. Although some of the middle was "contaminated" a layer along the top was seemingly untouched and perfectly white. I went about "normal" casing, except that I cut out everything I could see that was red or brown. This reduced the cake I could use to about 1/10 of the whole cake. I don't want to consider the whole operation lost, and had wasted all that time in mycelial growth... But i'm afraid that's exactly what I did. Someone please help me out and tell me whether my cakes will turn out ok, if i can salvage them, or if I am completely wasting my time with my kids. Thank you in advance, abudiwa
What? No! We can't stop here! This is bat country!

well it doesnt sound too good for you, man. but try if you will. i probably would but then im no stranger to failure. get rid f what you can by physically removing it, mist the remailing with 50/50 peroxide/water and case with whatever you were gonna case it with and i would keep h2o2 in the casing as well. once contams are there its become a battlefield, not a grow chamber. best of luck to you but id start some new jars/substrate asap.

sorry mate, id have to suggest putting those cakes outside, or atleast, seperate from your other casings - if they produce fruits they may be of poor quality
