Sorry, this is a repost of my previous question, but this time with pics. (The system wouldn't let me edit my original post.)
I have some BRF jars of B+ and some of Gulf Coast. Every single B+ jar has some brownish/tan spots on the mycelium, but the Gulf Coast does not. There's no funky smell, the spots haven't moved or spread any in the last week and a half. Also, the mycelium has been spreading at a steady rate with no sign of any other contamination.
All these brownish spots seem to originate below the inoculation holes. They started showing up about a week/week and a half after inoculation. The mycelium would spread out some first, then the center (where the inoculation originally occured) would turn brown.
This is my first time cultivating fungus, so I'm worried the B+ jars are contaminated. It doesn't LOOK like contamination to me, more like some sort of discoloration of the mycelium either from not enough water, too much water or too high humidity.
Anybody really familiar with the B+ strain ever notice this phenomenon? I only have one terrarium and I'm really worried about birthing the B+ together with Gulf Coast, because I might lose all of them if it turns out to be contamination. Any help or suggestions would be appriciated. Thanks. -----
The picture below is a 21 day old jar of Gulf Coast with no signs of contamination.

The two pictures below are 21 day old B+ jars with the brown spots.

The pictures below are 14 day old B+ with even more obvious brown spots.

PS. I do have even larger versions of those pictures if they're not clear enough.

I don't have a whole lot of experience, but I have seen an unfortunate ammount of contamination. I have never seen any contams that look like those brown spots. If I were you I would put a cheap terrarium together and birth those jars into it to seperate them from the others.

Your jars got skid marks. I don't think thats a contam, But do like ^^^ advised and fruit them in a seperate terrarium.

Yeah, that much discoloration falls with the range of what's acceptable - it's the the reds and greens and blacks that throw up a flag.

Thanks guys for the help. I was kinda worried that my jars were contaminated or getting damaged somehow.. because of that funny color. Would the fact that the jars were sitting at 85F-86F the whole time account for this "water damage" maybe? and will the discoloration clear up once I take the cakes out of the jars?

I'm not sure that there's any damage at all, just a little discoloration. A good sniff when you birth them should help to let you know if there's a contam issue (hopefully not).
