I think the reason it says to let them set for three weeks is because 2-3 weeks is the average incubation time for jars. But, i have seen jars colonize in as little as 8 days. Personally, I like to case about 2-3 days after the jars are 100% colonized on the outside. the extra 2-3 days makes sure the substrate is colonized throughout the center.

Another word on shroom wizards tek, Make sure you sterilize the casing soil well, regluar soil contains a host of contaminates and microorganisms that will come up when Humidity is high.

so, wait until ALL of teh outside is covered, adn then waitthe couple of days before i case? how do i sterilize the soil?

this is not the first time someonen has commented on how many posts i have and then asked y i didnt know the answer to my own question...however it is the first time someone commented on my name lol. anyway, i never really come to this forum, and i never really studied cultivating mushrooms so all i knwo is what was said in the guide (which, as i said, was contradictory in a way). that's y i needed to psot
