Lyme disease

I have had terrible pains in all my joints for years. Especially my hands and feet. Pain in knees too. Anyway I just learned I have Lyme disease. I forgot to ask doctor this question. Will my pains go away once the Lyme is treated or is the damage already done ?

AFAIK the arthritis is irreversible but I have lyme and joint damage and I did improve just by taking care of myself, though I was always treated within weeks or at least months of inoculation.  It might seem counter-intuitive but light exercise was probably the biggest help, just be reasonable about it.

You have some permanent damage. As do I. You'll learn to deal with it over time. Sucks sometimes though. Doesn't always hurt.

if your only trouble is lyme, you have a chance for some recovery.  if you happen to have high levels of inflammation, pre-existing arthritis, or other auto-immune deficiencies, there's a good chance you won't be able to lower your pain levels by much.  i've known lots of people on both sides of the fence.  some seem mostly untroubled by it, others go from day to day.  there's a small time-frame where treatments are mostly effective.

Been dealing with this almost two years. Honestly i don't believe most of the damage is permanent. That's not to say it can't happen after years and scarring and what not. But all that PLDS is nonsense. Lyme establishes chronic infection synergistically with other tick-borne pathogens and is extremely difficult to eradicate. Conventional treatment isn't even close to appropriate for a large chunk of people. Your remaining symptoms are more than likely persistent borrelia or undealt with coinfections. Stephen Buhner wrote some awesome books on lyme and tickborne pathogens i think are worth checking out for anyone dealing with the long term ramifications. He writes one of the best scientific overviews I've been able to find and uses his extensive knowledge of herbalism to address some of the more complex aspects of this illness. And far from being purely theoretical I have talked to many who have experienced and continue to experience serious progress from his suggestions even when antibiotics failed as well as a few who have experienced total remission. As for my personal experience, some of those tinctures give me dramatic herxheimer reactions followed by clearance of even the most hardy symptoms. Ie neuropathy. PLDS my ass they recover within days of taking the right thing. It's a long road though. Relapse is common and every ones disease process is different. For example i have confirmed babesia and ehrlichia and possible mycoplasma in conjunction with lyme which adds another dimension to the treatment process.

Not so sure about Lyme, but I have RA which is closely affiliated with lyme. After several years of poisons being prescribed..like methotrexate, a chemo therapy drug, I got tired of being sick. The inflammation was down but my immune system overall was very weak.
I learned about medicinal mushrooms on this site and did some research on reishi and chaga in particular. They are both immune system governors or stabilizers.
I eventually located and found wild specimens of each mushroom and began making my own double extracts. I've been continuing this for nearly three years and it has kept the disease in remission for most of that time...without any other meds other than occasional NSAID's. They have been a God send to me and I urge others that have immune system diseases to give them a try. The key is...to keep taking them every day...several times a day, just like you would meds. They also have proven cancer fighting characteristics among other things and have no negative side effects.:sunny::peace:

Yes....there are tons of white and yellow birch trees in Northern Pa....some of the older ones have chaga. I go up there one week a year  fishing and make it a point of taking one day to get my years worth of chaga.
