Re: Lyme disease survey [Re: propensity]
    #17325284 -

Lyme Disease is very similar to syphilis in which the body is infected with a spirochaete bacteria. This bacteria looks like a cork screw and is able to literally drill itself through almost any tissue in the body, including the brain. Usually the first signs are a bright red spot that spreads as the bacteria gouges its way through the host body.

Doctors will usually treat this type of bacteria with doxycycline or some other form of a tetracycline antibiotic for three weeks. There has been recent information that the spirochaetes are able to survive much longer than three weeks and some medical providers have advised to continue treatment for six months. There has been increased speculation that misdiagnosed Lyme Disease has been the cause of dementia and psychosis, especially in geriatric patients, ex Alzheimers.

The best way to avoid Lyme Disease is to protect yourself while out doors by wearing clothing that hinders ticks from attaching to your skin, applying insect repellant, and inspecting your body if you have been in a location that is prone to have ticks. Pets should be protected as well by using a monthly anti-parasitic. I personally like Trifexis for my dog bacause it seems to be the most effective on many different types of parasites.

i've pulled countless ticks off of my pets. once there was one stuck to my dogs eyelid. that was a tough one.

On one of my backpacking trips I got a tick stuck right in the corner of my eye where the tear ducts are located. Took quite an effort to get that lil fucker out.
