First time using WBS, but have questions
    #2334371 -

Ok, today i went out and picked up a bag of Wild Delight Advanced Forumula Bird Seed. Im planning on using it with 1/2 pint jars. I plan on soaking, and straining the WBS like the tek says. When im ready to fill my jars though, do i mix the wbs with anything such as brf or more water? How much should i use for each jar? Should i put a top layer of verm on it? Also, since i dont have a PC would Steam sterilzation be fine for the jars? I also plan on innoculating the jars w/ liquid myc, is this fine or should i just innoculalate the jars with normal spores? Thanks alot for the help!

You dont need to mix anything in, just soaked WBS, fill the jars 1/2 or so full. Dont put a verm layer, you need something like a tyvek or polyfill filter. Steam sterilization wont be ok, you will likely get 100% contams without a PC. The liquid myc should be ok.

Okay, a few things:

1) You should start off with the PF tek
2) When doing grain, its kind of a waste of time using 1/2 pint jars. Use at least pints.
3) You need to get a Pressure cooker to sterilize grain properly.
4) Soak your jars for 12 hours, drain, rinse(3 times rinse), drain, and then load the jars to about 3/4 the way up so you are able to shake them when they have colonized slightly (This really helps the process).
5) No verm on top. You'll need to shake them
6) Use liquid or spores, whatever you want. Liquid will be faster colonization but higher risk of contamination off the bat.

Good luck though!!
