If the victim wanted her crime to be solvable, she would have used a phone with crappy encryption.  She chose a phone with strong encryption, and that is her right.


Strong encryption does cause some criminals to not get caught.  That is the price of free speech.  The alternative is much worse - if the government can crack encryption, then all you have to do to break into anything is to hack the government.  All governments are very easy to hack.
