I've heard of very positive things about Hare Krishna temples, so it might be worth it to check it out. However, I've also heard people describe certain temples as being cult-like, but that might be variable, from temple to temple and sect to sect. A meditation centre or a decent Christian church might be good to visit too; my mama isn't Christian but she digs the church she goes to because the people are very positive.

Yes that's the reason I feel this one will be ok. I have a friend that has personally been to this particular temple. It's not as cult-y or creepy as some. At this point I don't have many options, and it all kind of makes sense. I love meditating and wanna learn more.

Go to the temple if you can, sure beats medicating and maintaining. They are as a group pretty anti-drug, but then again if the goal is to quit, go for it! Your Mind and Body will thank you. After truly feeling the meaning of the mantra, you will find the desire to use will be negligible anyway.

Also you might want to look into kirtan.
