How much do you have to DL for them to say anything?

I have like 400+ movies, nearly every tv show I've ever liked, and discography's of nearly every artist I like and I have never gotten any warning:shrug:

doesnt matter how much, just what you download. i got tagged from downloading Girls Gone Wild last year, and had downloaded at least a few TBs worth of data in previous years before i just said fuck it and got a VPN

my brother got tagged like 22 times from downloading a bunch of Wilco songs, and that band isnt even very popular

some ISPs seem more lax about it. Who's your provider out of curiosity?

Comcast will straight up hijack your browser with popups like this:

Word my ISP, does that shit too. They basically shut my internet down until I click that I accept that I will do something about the illegal p2p downloading/uploading.

Get on private trackers.

Not 100% safe still. I am on a private tracker and got hit a year or two ago because of some stupid shit someone did, I can't remember what. Wasn't just me, either. It was a known issue and they had to take measures to make sure it doesn't happen again. Even if their new counter measures are bullet proof for that issue, that doesn't mean someone else won't find a way to fuck everyone.

VPN is the best way to go. Torguard is like 10 a month and I never noticed a drop in speed at all (without it I download at about 1-2mbps, and same with it). As you can tell by the name, they are a torrent friendly VPN service. I've had it for months and I think there might've been maybe an hour or two where I couldn't connect because of some critical update they made. Other than that, I was up 24/7.

It's not 100% but it's pretty close. Especially if you stick to the best ones. Mostly people who target torrenting stick to public trackers. Plus they are free, unlike VPNs.

Since most private trackers don't allow VPNs you can go with a seed box if you are willing to spend money for the added safety of a VPN on a public tracker. In about a decade of using private trackers I've never been hit and no one on a site I've used had been (unless you count the guy who ran Oink, but he got off on all charges anyway).

Wasn't aware other sites have issues with VPNs. I've used it fine with IPT. I don't have a need to find any other private tracker though. IPT is the only one I've ever been on and the only one I've ever needed. I think in the 5 years I've been a member there, I've had to go find something on another (public) tracker maybe a dozen times and it was always for the same reason. Some show/movie had non-english parts without subtitles (which bugs the ever loving shit out of me) and I couldn't find any working subtitle files online and the only version on IPT didn't have them either. Most of the times, that ended up being fruitless anyways. Then I'd resort to looking up the transcripts only to not find the translation there too .

If you use IPT, then you were on a site that got hit not too long ago, when the GOT first 4 episodes of the last season leaked. I can't remember what happened I just remember someone fucked up and I question why I was getting DCMA warning from my ISP since it had NEVER happened since I started using IPT and then got told they're aware of the problem and that people who keep discussing it were being banned for it (wtf?) then there was some bulletin that explained the issue and what was done to make sure it doesn't happen again.

EDIT to add, I'm by no means saying private trackers are particularly vulnerable or have a false sense of security, but some people (actually I'd wager a good bit of them) found their way into private trackers because they already have several notices and don't want the repercussions of being caught again. If someone is one of those people and just happens to download one of the rare torrents that gets people busted, it could fuck them. If you've got no strikes, there's really no need to worry at all. On the off chance you are caught, it's just gonna be a warning and it was most likely a total fluke.

I've gotten 5 notices from Verizion.  They made me fill out this stupid notice the last 2 times which took 15 minutes and then watch a video.  Use a VPN if you care that much, or use usenet.  Both of those cost money, but my friend tells me usenet has everything torrent sites have with a much faster dl and don't require you to illegally share anything.  I don't use it or a VPN because I'm too cheap.

IPT is also one of the very few private trackers that ever has issues and is hardly private. What, BTN, and PTP are the way to go of you can get on them. None have ever had an issue that I'm aware of.

They're really cracking down on torrenting recently. I've been relentlessly pirating via torrents as long as they've existed, and I've only got 2 warnings ever until the past 3 months. I've been sent emails about downloading Always Sunny, Age of Empires II, and something else I don't remember.
