Anyone know of any legit VPN's that are free?
I just got my 3rd or 4th warning from my ISP for downloading movies... even though i only streamed them off showbox (movie app).
I dont know much about VPN except that it blocks my isp from seeing my activity.

Just pay for a VPN. They're super cheap and you can pay with bitcoin.

Dont really need another monthly bill to payx even if its cheap. Id do away with online movies before adding another monthly fee into my life.

I assume you are trying to use a vpn to conceal some sort of activity, paying for a service with your personal info or better yet using a crappy service that could log your activity kind of defeats the purpose imo

There's free VPNs. But they ALL suck and are slow as balls and intermittent. Just pay for one. You can get a top tier VPN for like $10/month. Totally worth it for the security. I'd recommend ExpressVPN or PureVPN but just look around.
But seriously. Don't waste your time with free ones, I've never found a good solid one. I don't think they exist. All the good fast ones are pay.. but it's only like 5-10 a month.. Especially if you are using it for torrenting. That's just going to be frustrating and painful

Also most VPN vendors take their client confidentiality VERY seriously. Would kind of defeat the purpose of being a VPN if they just gave customer info out all willie nillie

Free VPNs are shit and they'll probably sell you out. Years ago I tried a free VPN because I needed to try something and it was such a headfuck trying to uninstall their dodgy software.
Check out this list of VPNs from Torrentfreak: https://torrentfreak.com/vpn-anonymous-review-160220/
I've used Private Internet Access and NordVPN. Both are good. However, Private Internet Access is based in the USA where as NordVPN is based in Panama so I'd rather choose NordVPN. Retailmenot currently has two deals on NordVPN. One is 50% off a 6 month subscription and the other is 70% off a 1 year subscription.

Ive used Private Internet Access for quite a while now and never had any problems. They even shut down their russian servers recently because a new law wouldve forced them to log traffic.

It just makes tracking you harder to do, which is a good thing all around. You should also be disabling javascripts if you are surfing the darknet as well if you are concerned about saftey/privacy.

I use cryptostorm client. It's like 3 dollars (us) for a week and you don't have to subscribe so I just pay for it when I need it to make purchases. I think you can pay for a day as well for like 1.50 . They take debit .

Nord is solid, $36 a year and take bitcoin, no logging. Tons of servers in tons of countries.

No, but a VPN is definitely one layer of security that is very good to have/basically mandatory if you take anonymity seriously. There's no such thing as "complete" privacy unless you like boot from an encrypted USB on linux.. like tails on a throwaway laptop and everything is completely anonymous and nothing is stored permanently and use PGP for all communications and so on and so forth. That will get you pretty close to complete privacy. Good network security is a multi-layered approach, there is no one magic button.. there are many many many variables and the rabbit hole goes very deep indeed. It just depends how invested you want to get in it.

No, a VPN essentially acts as a "middleman" for your connection and makes your IP appear as if it's coming from them, not your actual IP. So people can't pull your actual IP and see where the source is from. VPN is not required to access to darknet... all you need for that is Tor. But it is highly recommended.
And yes paying for a VPN is mandatory if you want a fast, stable connection with a company that takes extra steps to safeguard your data.. as opposed to a free one which may or may not sell off all your information to the highest bidder.
