im with op whereas I wish I didn't need a job and having one can suck and feel like a waste of time.


on the other hand, I've grown accustom to my lifestyle. my whole life ive been middle class without having to worry about financial issues so having a job is necessary to maintain that.  i dont ever want to be homeless

I've considered doing an experiment with myself where i try to be homeless, but of course I have not had the balls to actually try such a thing. It obviously would be a very tough thing and you would have to be pretty crazy to actually do it.

If u really hate your job, you could move to the forest and become like Mick Dodge and live like a forger/hunter/gather guy. Live off the land so to speak.

My mom is the same way, lots of creative outlets but doesnt like to work.

I rememeber when i was in college, i didnt have to work for a long time as my Dad supported me.

But after awhile of the good life of having no work, i realised it came with a price: freedom.

I was bound to my Dads money, i had no freedom with my money really. i wanted to be free to use my own money how i wish.

then i got a job as my Dad wanted me to work part time.

My point is working does suck but it gives u freedom as well. But i understand what u mean, no having to work and learning everyday at school is pretty great :smile:

Sorry you don't want to work, but I'm sure it has to do with smoking way too much weed. You need some type of legit job to support yourself, it sucks but theirs no way of getting around it.

I'm not going to lie I've totally considered this :lol: I think I'll take to permaculture in a community setting first, but I'll definitely try to pick up some primitive survival skills once I'm there. It's got to be an amazing feeling to have that sort of freedom. I probably wouldn't ever totally opt out of civilization unless push came to shove, but i think those kinds of skills are really undervalued these days. It's nice to have a job and rake in some cash to buy fun things, but when you outsource your entire well-being to a system based on profit you really run the risk of getting abused. Hopefully I can find a good middle ground between self-dependency and modernity

There are alternatives, do what you need to do.

Live off the land
Hobo about
Work seasonally
Live in a van
Work for yourself
Find a job that means something to you
Some combination of the above

Or you can be one of those gimps who complains about how they hate working shitty jobs, don't do anything about it, and work a shitty job the rest of their lives.

Some of us live to work
Some of us work to live.

I would much rather have free time to spend travelling perusing hobbies and family etc.  To me a job is a means to an end.

I think that people who do nothing but work and have no or few hobbies outside of work are totally crazy, one dimensional people.
