I don't want a job ever again.
    #22804012 -

Hey everyone it's been almost 4 months since I've had a job and since I am a college student my parents are trying to make me get a job. Maybe theres something wrong with me but I don't want a job at all. I rather be broke and free then less broke and a slave to the system. I am a very creative young man and I've been working on so many independent projects. I don't think I could apply myself to some bullshit job making money for million or billion dollar corporations. I feel like its a waste of life..Working has only exposed me to the ugliest side of people and even though I am making money I don't think its worth it. Can anyone relate?

Work with a goal in mind. If you want to make a living off your creativity then save money to start a business off that. You need to make a living some way, so you might as well work toward a goal that goes beyond the monotony of some 9-5 BS that you hate.

Or work like a dog on your creative projects before your parents force you to get a job. Maybe you will situate yourself in some industry you love. I have to say though, this method requires a lot more work than finding a regular job. You would have to be your own slave driver.

Yeah those feels. I'd kind of rather be dead than stuck in a 9-5 i don't like. I get myself involved in all sorts of random projects and then school comes by and saps the energy and passion out of me. I don't expect the workplace to be much different. It's not the work that bothers me but the redundancy. My plan at the moment is just to cross this finish-line to get my degree then find a permaculture community.

Find something legal that is interesting to you and make it a daily focus.

Your going to wish you developed a legal skill sometime.

When I was a teen, I received a visual basic book.  I wish I spent the last decade learning coding and not smoking pot and getting by.

Working doesn't make you a "slave to the system", it makes you a responsible adult

How do you expect to be able to take care of yourself once your parents get sick of you kick you out and you're on your own?

You would be wise to get used to either working a job or living off the land because one day you'll have to do one or the other just to survive

Yea man, I went to college and by the end I hated it, but I knew if I bailed I would regret it. It takes a very little percentage of your overall lifetime to develop a marketable skill. You can change your mind whenever you want but the older you get the harder it is

I know a dude who was one of the laziest dudes ever. All he wanted to do was sit around and play playstation, drink, and watch sports. He'd get a job like every two years or so and either get fired within a few months or just quit. One time he quit a job because he was going to miss some NBA playoff games on TV, lol. He used to spin the fact that he didn't have a job by saying, "fuck money, more money more problems, know what I'm saying? I'd rather be broke".

Last I heard he moved out of his Dad's place for the first time a few months ago.

He's 35.

Do your parents give you an allowance OP? Long gaps in your resume are a red flag to future employers. One of my friends never left home or got any sort of real employment now he is 42 and his dad finally just died. Hes totally unprepared for life on his own even after he and siblings sell the house I cant see it turning out well for him. He doesnt even have a credit card.
Be creative on your own time but chances are you arent going to make a living chasing artistic dream. My buddy is a great sax player famous bands call him and hire him for gigs all the time yet he still works a shitty day job. Writer, artist, music, I would not want to depend on any of those for a living.
I like making money it pays for my drugs. I would rather be a rent paying slave to the system than be a freeloading man child in my parents house. My parents would not have stood for not working and not going to school anyway.

Good thing your parents didn't adopt the same type of approach to employment. Given that you went to school, one might assume that they provided a roof over your head and the basic necessities of life--including the opportunity to go to school. Perhaps you should start to fend for yourself and not be a burden on them or the system. Not many people want to work for a living (myself included)--what makes you think that you are a special snowflake and things should be handed to you?

I felt like it wasn't worth it when I had a job I hated making minimum wage. Find a career you enjoy and it will change (if you aren't a complete bum).

No one really likes working dude but you have to do what you have to do to survive. Your parents wont be supporting you forever...

Motherfuckers over in China are busting their asses all day every day in the sweat shops for a hand full of change

You should be glad to be in a first-world country where you have all these opportunities to make a good life for yourself

People all over the world die every day in the most horrible of ways.. people starve, get raped, get abused, get tortured, all manner of horrible shit goes on in this world and that's just the way it is, the way it has always been

Mother Earth is a cruel mistress, but we really have no idea because we've never experienced the very worst of what can befall human existence.. I for one appreciate my life, and understand that it could be a whole lot worse
