At the current moment my favourite band is

Star Fucking Hipsters


However it changs often because theres far far too much excellent music out there to choose one single favourite.

Picking favorites is impossible for me, Pink Floyd is definitely up there though :stoned:

There are so many amazing bands out there though, Floyd just has so much great music out including live bootlegs and concert DVD's.

Many of my other "favorite" bands only ever put out one obscure album though sadly.

Also not one person here said Yes, they put out a ton of great stuff and really raised the musical bar and helped usher so much other amazing prog rock.

Here is my favorite Yes song:

Just listen to that experimental funky guitar and crazy keys rythm, interesting lyrics and style too. Its just all around good stuff.

You ever listen to Astra? I have seen their sound described as Sabbath meets Floyd and I feel its pretty accurate.

Masters Of Reality is another interesting group actually named after the Sabbath album.

What to do what to do.  Clash?  B-52s?  Gentle Giant?  Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry?  Genesis/Peter Gabriel?


I'm gonna go with Gabriel with Genesis and Gabriel solo through Security.  The Clash

Astra only has two albums out I think but they both are pretty damns solid, their first one "The Weirding" is my favorite.

Here is the self titled track and my favorite from that album:


Astra - The Weirding

It just has such a great balance of mellow an heavy elements, great lyrics and message as well as musicianship. A lot of epic long tracks too.

Never heard the live version but it sounds pretty great, has an extended intro that is not in the studio version. Love the guitar throughout :heart:
