Silversoul do you think if lysergic had enough money he could get an ad describing how bad and stupid black people are run during the superbowl? After all im sure they had ads showing blacks in a positive light so might not also the oposite. Or is it in CBS's right not to run the ad?

Ok, I see your point, but still, if they're not going to show one side of the issue, they should show the other. If they're not going to show this ad, they shouldn't show the White House's ad either. Besides, I hardly think racism is comparable to a political campaign.

Some people take their countries leadership as seriously as racism. I mean really were talking about the kind of people who possibly still think Saddam was the one who planned 9/11. These kind of feverous people get offended very easily and it would not be good for CBS.
At far as marketing goes. Good news is better than bad news and no news. Representing something people like in a positive manner is always on their minds.
Also moveon.org supported some ads which comparred bush to hitler. But soon they claimed they just slipped through the radar. Well do you think they should run one of the hitler ads. Could you even imagine what would happen.

Ok, I get what you're saying. Still, I watched the moveon ad, and it didn't seem any more disturbing than the anti-drug ads that are sure to be aired during the Super Bowl.

Well i dont agree with the anti-drug ads either. unfortunately most of the people watching the superbowl probably will and thats just good business.
Also what kind of ads are the white house putting out? "Bush is good, now vote for his ass in November"?

I don't know. I guess I'd have to actually see the White House ad before I can really make a judgement call, but if it's a campaign ad, I'm gonna be pretty pissed off.

Its funny, i cancelled my cable almost a year ago. I got a tape of a movie, with commericals, and i was absolutely appallled! Literally half the movie was commercials, and it was bad enough fast forwarding...i don't think i could subjugate myself to tv crap again...at least not volintarily. 
Of course ads are going to be picked and choosen from....for whatever audience the network is targeting.

Everyone keeps talking about how they're just going after their target audience, but in America, just about everyone watches the Superbowl, so how come they're airing a pro-Bush ad and refusing to air an anti-Bush ad, when Bush's approval ratings are less than 50% right now?

Basically if you subjugated to a whitehouse ad, your not going to change the channel, get pissed off, or anything like that....mabye get a laugh, but thats it.
If its something comparing bush to hitler thats entirely different...people will be outraged, change the channel, complain etc....
...im not sure why though, but don't you agree?

Did you actually click the link and watch the commercial? There was nothing in it comparing Bush to Hitler. It was all about the deficit and how the children today are going to have to pay it off.

Its about 'bushs' deficiet and how the children will pay it off.
People get outraged becuase they think the war was worth it. They don't want to hear they made a mistake wasting money on some bullshit war. They'd rather see children in afghanistan and iraq playing because thier dictators are gone. They don't want to see thier children doing shit jobs for thier mistake, they can't admit to.

No, they'll probably understand that we have a huge fucking deficit to pay off, and maybe in some abstract sense understand that it's Bush's fault. We're not a very detail-oriented culture.
