what type of iodine for cloning?

I believe I was watching a video from RogerRabbit and he said when cloning mushrooms its good to soak the mushrooms in iodine to kill mold bacteria but doesn't go to much farther into what type of iodine or the products he uses. Is this acceptable iodine?

Would love some input if people know about the correct iodine type.

Pulled this beauty today and thought I would like to give cloning a try just to get some more tek under my belt.

I have never used it for mycology, I would use my iodine tincture. Better yet I am going to be experimenting with bee propolis in everclear. I have a bunch I use it as a skin/throat/wound/overall amazing spray.

Saw myself balding a bit. Sprayed Bee propolis now hair strong thick and full again. Not falling out like it was hair. Wtf magical ass propolis.

No iodine needed for cloning. All I grow are clones these days and the last time I saw iodine was in the 80s when my mom put it on my cuts. Just tear open the stem and scrape a piece of tissue from inside or pop a whole pin on agar and transfer the first mycelium growth you see before bacteria can catch up.

There is no need to soak it in anything in a normal cloning situation from an indoor fruit.

Just tear (with your fingers, dont cut with a knife) a fruit open to expose virgin tissue and drag a sterile scalpel along to get a piece of tissue and place on agar. Transfer clean growth to a new plate.

Cloning is pretty easy

Any IODINE 10% will do the trick

Like they say above, just tear open the myc tissue inside the mushroom is sterile.

You can also sterilize 3 jars of water and in the SAB submerge a pin in each jar to "dilute" the bacteria that is present on the mushroom surface. I recommend to clone pins cause their vigorous growth in agar. Also, if you use a weak agar recipe, like using half the nutrients you would use in your normal agar recipe, will favor myc growth in its search for nutrients. Also, molds don't thrive as easily in a weaker solution. Just experiment and see what it work best for you.
