An Inmate Dies, and No One Is Punished -- NY Times article

The article is long but I couldn't stop reading it.

The 1st 2 paragraphs:

DANNEMORA, N.Y. — Inmates who have served time at the Clinton Correctional Facility here tell of being taken aside by a sergeant soon after they arrive and given a warning: Cross the guards, and bad things can happen.

And they do. Inmates describe being ambushed by guards and beaten, taunted with racial slurs, and kept out of sight, in solitary confinement, until the injuries inflicted on them have healed enough to avoid arousing suspicion.

I bet that article doesnt tell you that if you treat those guards with respect then
those guards will respect you. es, it's fucking like that, you grind up some
peppers and throw it in the guards face and you're going to get a fucking beating.
what happens to you in prison is generally your own doing, just like in real life

I've heard all the stories about inmates just sleeping their cellies and just raping them for hours. Imagine a huge dude who's been working out for the past 10 years just taking your shit. That's what's scared me of going to prison.

For those who have been to prison before.

If you keep to yourself and don't bother anyone, are you at risk of getting your ass kicked for no reason? Are the guards gonna try and make you lose your shit?

Essentially, do the guards and other cellmates give only trouble to those who ask for it or do they distribute the misery equally?

I've been to jail, not prison and as long as you weren't a fucking moron people don't fuck with you. Everyones there trying to do the same thing, pass time. It isn't some big gay suck fest.


I really doubt prison is any different, most people find prison nicer than jail as it's for long term stays and generally there is more for prisoners to do.


I'm sure some gay butt rape has occurred in prison before, but I really highly doubt it is as common as people seem to think.

Yeah that gay butt rape thing is just a myth to scare you. Being in prison doesn't make you gay. I would not fuck a man ever. I had a 5 year dry spell in my 20s. Did not have the urge to bang a dude ever. Jerking off works.

Why would someone, 2 people in fact, who're about to do 15 years in the feds lie about that? I didn't say that they happen frequently, but is does happen, apparently one of the guys, who was running the entire mod for the whites, participated in killing, or at least shanking him.

Next you're gonna tell me that there's no shanks or drugs in prison, huh?
