pressure cookers.....

i have a few questions relating to pressure cookers....

1. are pressure cookers really that important or can you sterilize jars just as effectively in a boiling pot of water(covered with lid) ona stove?

2. i've read in a few of the teks and faqs that if you choose to use straw or other grains like millet, you have to use a pressure cooker. has anyone ever had success without using a pressure cooker doing this?

its obvious to me that i really need to invest in a pressure cooker but i just can't afford one right now. i'm looking on ebay and other web sites for one but in the mean time i cannot. thanks

If you are doing whole grains such as WBS or Popcorn, then yes you 100% NEED a Pressure Cooker.

You can do the PF Tek in steam pot with boiling water.

I am in the process of using rye grain and i dont have a pressure cooker,of course im sure it makes it alot better but i used the fractional steralization process and so far so good.

I tried to do grains a few times with out a pressure cooker,..its super hard to get thee exact consistancy you need for grains,using a pot on your stove top...i got a pressure cooker..and it works wonders...
