Two questions here: Infected Spawn/Cedar Chips
    #2236468 -

Well, this might be in the wrong forum but here goes anyway.

I've got a casing I made from two pints that were growing some green mold.  There was a large amount of mycellium in these before the green took hold, about 3/4 colonized, so I decided to experiment and scrape the mold off the top and try and case them.  The two jars I used were scraped clean of any visible mold, the rest was poured into a bag where it was broken up and sprayed repeatedly with hydrogen peroxide.  It was then sifted around a bit to disperse the h202 and spawned to an equal amount of manuer.

Three days after spawning it's doing great!  The box is 9/10ths colo'd and no sign of mold..  Has anyone had a similar experience?  Did it work out?  Will the mold come back or do I have a good chance now that it's almost fully colonized.  Any imput appreciated.

Second question!

I was bored so I spawned two pints to some alder/cedar sawdust mixed 75% to 25% manuer.  The strain is B+, does anyone have an idea whether or not this will work?  I don't know much about this strain and if it likes wood or not, if it does I'm not even sure that they'll like this specific sort of wood.  Any thoughts?

I hope it works out.  If it does I'll post some pics, if not, hell it's just another experiment

1. I removed half a cake that had black mold and it did not return, just luck, usualy if you can see the mold on the surface it's far worse tan it looks, most times it will return

2. DONT use cedar, it contans high amounts of oil that act as a powerful fungicide, have you ever seen a decomposing or fungus infected cedar tree in the wild, I never have and that all I have around here . B+ is not normaly a wood loving mushroom but a 50/50 spawn to alder/manuer may work

Just an update, the cedar sawdust box is 100% colonized after 6 days of growth. Hope it fruits...
