Chives going to seed (stress induced?)
    #22473899 - 11/03/15 10:56 PM (8 years, 2 months ago)

I uprooted these from a cluster of planters in a pot a while ago, maybe 9 months ago.  I meant to transplant it to another pot.  I placed it in this plastic container and gave it some water and a pinch of 10-30-20.  Well, 9 months later it has ripe seeds.  The original cluster has never flowered, I've had that cluster for 2-3 years.

Pretty exciting stuff right guys?

I have chives that have purple flowers. They flower and go to seed usually twice a year.

Never seen white flower chives.

those are garlic chives, or chinese chives.  they have a flat leaf instead of circular.  they flower at the end of the season before cold sets in, and then come back in the spring.  strange that the mother cluster has never flowered... mine are almost invasive and spread seeds everywhere.

I agree with you about them being Garlic Chives.
