the lowrider seeds are in....
    #3516649 - 12/18/04 10:53 AM (11 years, 11 months ago)

Below is a quick rundown of the newest cannabis seeds i got, theres alot of hype about this plant on overgrow.com and i have a few friends who have grown it and i was very impressed with it, although i havent gotten to smoke any of it yet, im hoping to start mine this week, i have them germinating right now, wish me luck. and i was just wanting some input on these plants if anyone has any. theres not to many opinions out there on them and of course if you have grown them let me know how it went.

this unique variety will dramatically expand
the range of possibilities for aspiring, amateur and professional Cannabis
growers and breeders. Aptly named for its low profile (both literally and
figuratively), Lowryder was developed for extreme rapid growth (8-9 weeks
from seed to bud!), uniquely short height (will grow no taller than 12 in!),
and amazing versatility. Passing directly from the seedling to the flowering
stage, Lowryder altogether does away with the vegetative growth stage. In
other words, you plant it, it sprouts, grows a set of leaves, then
immediately and automatically begins flowering. As a result, it is the
quickest, most compact, and most easily concealed plant available.

Indoors, Lowryder completely eliminates the need to induce flowering by
reduction of day-light hours; indeed, it eliminates the need for a timer,
period. Yes, it will grow consistently well and finish under 24 hours of
light, from sprouting to harvest, in eight weeks. You can achieve similar
results with 18 or 12 hours of light per day, if you like to give your room
time to cool down, for example - 18 hours straight through until harves is
recommended. The point is, with Lowryder, there is no need for a change in
the light period to induce flowering, nor is it necessary to have separate
vegetative and flowering rooms.

Outdoors, Lowryder can easily be kept concealed because of its tiny size
and early flowering, whether planted in fields, in gardens, on patios or
even on windowsills. When planted in the spring, it will produce ripe bud
earlier than any available variety. It can be planted, grown and harvested
several times per season (in one?s backyard for instance ;-)), without
attracting undue attention. Due to its lightning-fast life cycle (8-9
weeks), Lowryder can be planted up to early August. It can be easily and
succesfully grown in the most unlikely locations, from Alaska and Canada?s
Arctic (Lowryder will flower and finish in the continuous light of Arctic
summers) to the urban apartment balconies of the world!

Having no vegetative stage, Lowryder can?t be cloned or regenerated, for all
intents and purposes. Replanting seeds is a must. But then, this plant?s
unique advantages do away with any reason for cloning in the first place. In
any case, seeds are much easier to transport and handle and have a higher
success rate.

To complement its unique characteristics, Lowryder?s final appearance,
taste, and high, have nothing to envy of the finer weed varieties, an
excellent smoke with high potency and amazing resin production. You almost
have to see it grow before your own eyes to believe it, but the proof is
here. Lowryder is 100% stable and reliable in its properties, a product of
nine generations of selective breeding, and is non-deviant and
hermaphrodite-free. Lowryder claims direct descendance from superior
William?s Wonder and Northern Lights no.2 indica, while keeping the identity
of its third, more exotic ruderalis-type ancestor a secret.
Lowryder?s unique genetic and practical advantages insure tha it will find
an important niche in the world of fine Cannabis.

Only downside is you have to go from seed every grow because you cant keep a mom in veg. So every few grows you need to pollinate some and build up a seed stock. Theres a whole thread on overgrow in grow logs with tons of pics.

yeah, i plan to pollinate a few of mine once the germinate, thats also a question i was wanting to ask a few of you all, what do you all think i should cross it with during in pollination or do you think i should stick to its genectics a breed with in the same seeds i have of them. i was thinking of just letting all the seeds grow together the first time to let them pollinate on there own and just not worry about the sex this time around and just cure all the plants for seeds and some bud (seedy but bud) the first time and then the next grow worry about sexing since ill have the seeds i need to toss a few?

Leave a 2-3 males in and keep the strain pure for the first batch. Also dont pollinate all your plants so you get some nice sensi too. Then after that you can make crosses with other strains and still have the pure strain seeds to go back to.

The cops have problems finding 6' monsters just as well but yes you can hide them quite easily. However thy dont yield much comparted to there full sized cousins. They work great for low profile stealth grows for a personal stash. And since they only need gallon pots or smaller for flower you can have a ton of plants under a 400w make crosses and have gret variety in your bud with minimal space. As long as you dont back cross onto another strain too much then any cross should give you auto flowering crosses of varrying phenos.

it was a seedbank/breeder who came up with it, not sure of the name right now, i will get back on that to you. it was dirived from a russian strain something with a R ill have to get back on that one to. i do know it was crossed with northern lights and was in 7 years of breeding projects before entering the open market. all it is, is a autoflowering plant they have been around for as long as the strains were used to its just they are known for being as potent as hemp plants, but it loks as if someone finally got the genetics right becuase all the info i have gotten on them says the smoke is good and the buds are dense, yeilding from 5 grams to 17 grams a plants, and the typical pot size i have been seeing for them (mature stage) is around 4 inch pots meaning alot more per square foot, so they make up for the loss in wieght. for commercial growers there not so good but for small outdoor or large indoor grows there great. not to mention how quick they grow. i will keep you all up to date with my grow and ill get some pics up at the two week stage when i have them in some pots and in the cab.

straight from your article you posted up top,

Lowryder claims direct descendance from superior
William?s Wonder and Northern Lights no.2 indica, while keeping the identity
of its third, more exotic ruderalis-type ancestor a secret.

I wouldnt keep them in 4" pots, mabey 6" but 4" is small for a 2 week old plant. If your stuck on using a 4" quart pot you should consider using pot in a pot or pot in a trough meathod. Using a solo cup or 3" round pot as the inner pot. http://www.overgrow.com/growfaq/857

i was meaning 4 inch in diameter like the big gulp cups many use to grow these in to full maturity. also the low rider claims to be 100% stable if you have the pure seeds, the crosses have no garuntee because they all are produced by homegrowers like your self. also i got my seeds from
http://www.drchronic.com/products.asp?category=Joint+Doctor+seeds
and yeah ruderalis is the word i was looking for.

also the major thing with these is no need to change the light cycle, start them off with 24/24 and leave them like that till the bud and then harvest, but the optimal amount seems to be 18/6 from looking at alot of grow logs with em.

no you cant but it does expand the possibilities for a outdoor grow as well as a indoor grow. In my opinion i think there great for indoor grows but for outdoor i wouldnt bother, i mean all that trouble you have to go through finding a spot, and keeping the soild right with the right amount of water, and not to mention not getting cuaght going to the spot. i would chance it for only one bud per plants, id go ahead and grow something else on a outdoor plot and keep these little fellows indoors for the stealth grows.

Short plants would be perfect for people living in a city.

You could easily grow them in your garden without anyone noticing.

the only reason i'd see to use that strain is if you have severly limited vertical grow space or are doing outdoor up north and need to be quick like. other than that it's a pathetic yielding weak plant and not worth the risk imo. you can get a pure indica and keep it short or scrog and get potent fat buds.
