well as the title suggests, i'm moving to Oregon, and i was wondering if you guys had any advice for me. me and my girl have been doing our research. we both want to attend Oregon state university. we have decided to try Corvallis since Oregon state has a branch their. and the cost of living doesn't seem too bad. do any of you have any advice on that? lived there? visited? please share any personal experiences. they would be greatly appreciated. also we are moving 2/3 of the way across the country to do this.. any tips for that would be awesome.

Yeah, ihave some advice.
Get a bike.
Corvallis is pretty flat and is great for biking around.
Get lots of rain gear. For about 2-3 months of the year, all of Oregon gets A LOT of rain. Have umberellas, rain coat, pants, etc.
It also snows in the Valley some years. So have some snow gear too, it can get cold.
You will meet lots of cool people, so act normal

That's more-or-less what I was going to say. Finding a job in Oregon is harder than other places unless you have some unique skills.

I don't know if I'd say all of Oregon get's a lot of rain... seeing as 3/4ths is desert But the Willamette valley for sure.

Thing's are definitely less conventional... Trimming weed is great seasonal work that's very prevalent in the the state though, you can make thousands fairly easily - but its generally only from sept-dec in large scale.
I did a lot of freelance graphic design and sound design while I was in the state, as well as selling herbal and medicinal tinctures we brewed up

Corvallis is pretty chill but it's a college town, students are the majority of the population. Glass is good business to be in down there. It gets more rain and gets colder than Salem and Portland. I feel like the lack of jobs there might be due to students. It's not hard to get a job in Salem. There's a lot of cool parks to hike around there, Mary's Peak is a must. Lots of breweries in town and nearby. Hands down best cider comes out of Two Towns which is right outside of town, definitely worth checkin out. You will enjoy it here, the Willamette Valley is beautiful and mushroom season is on the way!

I know I'm gonna miss it this year. But that's another big reason I'm moving there. Just not enough rich mushroom hunting ground around here.some. but most is land stripped of coal 15 -20 years ago. It sucks.

Ahh, well if you get in during the winter you'll be able to do some spring hunting at least!

Rent a U-haul or something. You'll find that walking 2/3s of the country with a fridge on your back is quite annoying.

Really? Bummer, stick with it I guess - I was helping a friend job hunt in Portland recently and she did a week of applying to atleast 20+ places with no calls back, but then one day randomly she got 3 interviews and had to choose between a couple decent jobs.

People who owns fridges. But I get it. Lots of people leave the fridge and oven. I would not, because I paid good money for mine and they are high quality
