what sort of substrate? What are you innoculating with?

If you are using a regular brf or birdseed substrate and innoculating with spores, forget using the oven bags and get some jars.

He is using wild bird seed from Wild birds unlimited. Why would there be such a diffrence between bags and jars?

Thanks

Oven bags are only good for one thing and that's for sterilising casing soil. Because they are pretty fragile i wouldn't use them to grow anything in. Be wise, use jars!

You could use your spores to inoculate a 1 qt. jar of rye grain. Then use that to inoculate 4 or 5 plastic filter bags of rye grain. Not too difficult in semi-sterile conditions. Cased you could get a lb. dry. All from one qt. jar of spawn.
