I started at 14 and it helped harm reduction but if you are starting that early and need advice I think its common courtesy to lie and say ur 18 for Legal reasons. Just cortesy.

Everytime i go to the library, there is someone smoking weed in the front of it. It happens like every 30 minutes to an hour.

Oh and i joined the site when i was 17, i tried to grow mushrooms(shitty grow kit) failed and just didn't comeback for a few months. I came back when i was 18 though. And started growing because i have my own place. I didn't even know that rule until i got back.

Pretty sure the rule is there so we don't get sued.

I think Acidic_Sloth was underage when she joined too, and now she's a mod. I guess if you don't act like an idiot or mention your age it never really comes up. In practice it's kind of like a "don't ask, don't tell policy" (minus the asking part.) If you never out yourself, the site can plausibly deny that they knew you were underage.

If they really wanted to weed out all the underage members they could demand ID from everyone who joins. Obviously though this would not go over well at all given the type of site it is. The way things are done seems like a decent compromise: if you say you're underage, you can either opt to submit proof that you aren't, or get banned for x number of years until you would be 18 based on the age you said.

I had an account when I was, like, 15 :lol: I wanted to grow mushrooms really bad, so I made an account and started asking questions. When someone asked how old I was, I thought "I can't tell 'em I'm 15, so I'll just say I'm 17"

The ban shortly followed :lol:

No, they don't ban for that retroactively. Once you're 18 you're no longer in violation of the rule.

Its been said by several people, its mostly for legal reasons. The difference between a 17yo and an 18yo is that the 18yo is legally responsible for their own actions, as well as more prone to accurately assess risks.

Personally I think that if we were to allow them in that it would save lives. Its utterly naive to assume no one takes drugs before 18 and its often then that the big lifetime mistakes are made, like hard drug addictions or OD's, again mostly due to lack of information and impaired risk assessment ability.

We see this with our younger adult members too, the brain is only fully matured around 25, and certain problems on the board are fed by the presence of a large number of 18-23yo's. No offense to anyone as its natural development and I don't want to imply you are somehow inferior, but at 25 you'll see what I mean.

Do I believe in this site for harm reduction? Yes I do, I seem plenty of examples, and thus I think that it would save lives, but then again, there's a lot of obscenity and "adult angst" on this site that kids really shouldnt be exposed to. Add the legal problem and, we got the situation.

And yes you fry if you even joke about being underage, we have to take that seriously.
