Legal Cannabinoids?
    #2201274 - 12/25/03 10:06 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

What molecules of the Canabis sativa plant are illegal by U.S. federal law?

Are cannabidiol or cannibinol scheduled? What about all the other cannibinoids and cannabinols and terpenes and whatnot?

Whatever part is the fun part. I think.

Entire plant, seeds, everything. If it THC containinng marijuana, it's illegal. Seeds, illegal. C. Sativa, the only recognized "marijuana" plant on earth, illegal. Non potent, anything, illegal.

Found this...

Under the CSA, marijuana and THC6 are in Schedule I, the most restrictive schedule. The scheduling of any other cannabinoid under this act first hinges on whether it is found in the plant. All cannabinoids in the plant are automatically in Schedule I because they fall under the act's definition of marijuana (21 U.S.C. ? 802 (16)). In addition, under DEA's regulations, synthetic equivalents of the substances contained in the plant and "synthetic substances, derivatives, and their isomers" whose "chemical structure and pharmacological activity" are "similar" to THC also are automatically in Schedule I (21 CFR ? 1308.11(d)(27). Based on the examples listed in the regulations, the word similar probably limits the applicability of the regulation to isomers of THC, but DEA's interpretation of its own regulations would carry significant weight in any specific situation.

Probably quite hard to procure any of the synthetic analogs

Does this mean that Cannabis ruderalis is legal if it has no cannabinoids?

All Cannabis produces cannabinoids even midwestern ditchweed, there are hundreds of them, but only a few psychoactive ones. Problem is they all are lumped together and are specificaly tied to the cannabis plant so even if you sythesize them they are illeagle.
Rumor has it they have discovered a lichen which is the only other plant source of cannabinoids and this plant produces only micro-amounts of ^3THC and obscure derivitive of unknown potency.I believe even it would be covered as an analog.

Thanks man. I was unaware that ruderalis had cannabinols.

Oh well, another project shot to hell.

Cheers,

MM
