Damn man...those look just like my first flush. About 7 PF cakes and the first flush was totally explosive. The cakes looked done, but I recased ala the double casing Tek and got some serious second flush action goint on. Not nearly as much as the first flush, but I haven't even thought about shocking the lil guys with cold temp.but if I do, I'm thinking of sitting the terarium in front of the air conditioner and/or putting ice water in the humidifier. Any advice?

Primate, the pics were published on the shroomery under the title "pic's of Gulf Coast Fruiting" on June 22nd. Most of the substrate details are there, read it and if you have any further questions,I will be glad to assist. I originally weighed the wet shrooms on a cheap kitchen scale which wasnt so accurate, I weighed them when they were dry on a jewellers digital scale and was suprised to see them at 21 g. I have had some very good results with Ecuadors as well on dung. Some of my Ecuadors are featured on Ryche Hawks web page.

Foaf update: quote:
132 grams wet became 15 grams dryWhich yields 1 7/8 grams dry per cake on first flush. Second flush is progressing nicely, but not as strong as first. Also, on this batch I pressure cooked the Perlight in a attempt to stall contams. In past attemtps contams started showing midway thru 2nd flush. So far this batch is showing no contams Just wanted to says thanks to everyone here! This site is a wonderfull thing.
Peace

A job well done! No question finch seed with produce more of an abundance of bigger healthier mushrooms then rice cakes. A lot more nutriants to feed the mushrooms. Then, take it one step further, with dung or compost for best results. Most ppl dont have access to dung or compost though, so if you do have a canner, use grains such as finch seed for best results. -peace- www.thehawkseye.com
