What your looking for is called "finch food" its made by pennigtons, and is usually easily found at wal-mart. To be honest, almost any bird seed will work. The reason you use finch seed is because it contains fewer sunflower seeds and consists mainly of millet. There has been controversy as to wheather low sunflower seed count is a good thing or not. Some say the sunflower seeds harbor contamination, others say the are essential ingrediants. The main thing is the millet seed. If you want to skip the whole birdseed thing, you can go to almost any health food store and buy premium millet seed that contains nothing but millet. I personally will oly use the premium millet. Birdseed is not at all consistant in its nutritional value. Some of it rocks, some if it sucks ass. If you want to keep it simple and just get some birdseed, any bag of seed with the word "finch" on it is what your after. The preferred brand is made by penningtons and is called "finch food" as long as it says finch, you've got the right thing.
