Difference in potential...
    #2183481 - 12/16/03 05:47 PM (20 years, 2 months ago)

Is anyone familiar with electrical arcing?

Say your working with a 240 v hot line.  You have two hot legs, a positive and a negative.  There is a difference in potential of 240 volts between the two lines.  Touch them together and

BOOM  :oogle:

an arc explosion materializes.

I was thinking that the two electrical lines are like the yin and the yang.  They are opposites of each other, and when they combine, something is yielded.  For example, men and women are yin and yang, combine them, and the result is a child (arc explosion of life).

I was also thinking that conditions similar to the electrical example are what caused the big bang.  Say there was a huge difference in potential between two dueling objects, we'll call them existance and non existance.    Something causes them to meet, resulting in a huge explosion that materializes physical matter.  Galaxies form, planets begin orbiting stars, and life evolves...

What do you think?

I think it is a smart thing to not play with electricity.

Just could be....
Peace.

Why did existance win out over non-existance?

Based on the current views of science, my theory for the Big Bang event is that there was, at first, a singularity (FROM OUR PERSPECTIVE!!!!) which contained infinite energy density. The singularity was unable to maintain it's state because the symmetry invoved was not a stable one.

The symmetry broke. Physically, this symmetry breaking manifested itself as the condensation of TWO SEPARATE fundamental forces (the electronuclear and gravitation forces) from what had before been the ONE AND ONLY FORCE OF NATURE. It also resulted in a RAPID expansion of what were then very tinely curled dimensions. Spacetime came into existence, though not in the form we know it today. Due to the enormous energy held now in a given volume of spacetime, the curvature of the spacetime dimentions continued to increase. As they grew, the energy density in any given point of spacetime fell. Soon a point was reached when the symmetry of the electronuclear force broke, and from the electronuclear force there condensed two new forces: the strong nuclear and the electroweak. As the still VERY young universe (only about 10^-12 seconds old) continued to cool and expand, the electroweak force again separated and condensed into the weak nuclear and electromagnetic forces.

At this point, the four fundamental forces we know of are all in existance and the physics are much the same as they are now in our large, uncurled, and cold universe.

Sorry if this isn't what you're looking for, but I'm slightly inebriated at the moment :smirk:

And now I will take 2 alka-seltzers and go to bed, tyvm.

edit: Just thought I should add that I am joking. Was about to go to bed when I saw your post and being that I am beyong "thinking mode", shouldn't be reading at all.

Also at this point, the universe had increased in size to about 10,000,000,000 KM in diameter.

Just goes to show you how much can happen in 0.000000000001 seconds :smirk:

Yeah, there are better models of the big bang. Obviously, my little example suffers from extreme oversimplification, but i dunno, the big bang just reminds me of an arch explosion.
