My chick had crippling back pain for years due to a snowboarding accident and hurting a disc.
She went to chiropractors, specialists, tried everything in the book and nothing relieved her pain, she could barely walk most days without excruciating pain and her job requires her to be on her feet.
She started doing yoga and over the period of about a year and a half her pain become much more manageable to the point where it barely bothered her at all and she could function well in day to day life.
She does it 3-4 times a week to this day and it keeps her back in good condition.

Just because a few yoga people espouse spiritual crap and a holier-than-thou attitude or just do yoga because it's trendy doesn't mean the whole fucking thing is bunk.
Not to mention there's like 500 different kinds of yoga

I think its great that your girl found relief, and for those who do experience benefits from it....Im happy. There has been some success with it helping those with schizophrenia or other horrible conditions.

That's the same reason most people embrace Christianity though, including you. People want to be "deep" in the grand scheme of things, when they're really just paroting a bunch of arcane or dogmatic dribble that they picked up from guru/preacher. At least yoga has some health benefits. As far as I know, the only things that are well correlated with strong christian beliefs are low IQ, and maybe poverty. You're just too lazy to pick a religion that requires stretching and exercise rather than sitting and kneeling. Admit it.

I'll close by saying this. I speak from experiance. I have tried yoga, I wanted to belief!!! I wanted to think it was some deep trippy way to get in touch with my spiritual side but at the hight of each class. I simply found myself constantly checking out the girls
.....then the bell went off, and I had to pay my $20 I think I have experianced  more spirituality taking a shit. At least in the bathroom I'm reflecting on things and at peace with the world.
