The simple reason I don't even consider reincarnation,

whether or not there is any "truth to it", if a person can't remember previous lifetimes, it makes no sense to say they are the same person "in their spirit" or "at their core" or whatever. To me.

What about the people who do? I've read more than one report on people knowing shit about a previous life they had no way of knowing about and giving very specific details. I dunno how true it all actually is, but still.. It's something to consider. Maybe they really do remember parts of their former life. Have also heard similar stories from people getting organ transplants.

Then we have to consider what really makes a person who they are. Is it just their actions and feelings, or is a person who they are because they have a propensity towards certain things? If the soul contains that propensity, and we base it on that, then the person they were in the former life and the one they are now is the same.

My concept of reincarnation is that the soul inside me refers to itself as "I" as do all human beings.  We are each a human being, and after I die there will be more human beings.  We are all the same being, with the same soul, the soul of the Universe.  We are different spirits of the same soul.  This soul is eternal and will continue to incarnate into more beings after I am gone.  To me, this is reincarnation.  We only have one life as this spirit, but eternal lifetimes as the universal soul.  This is why we should all try to make the world a better place, because the future "I" will inherit the planet.  We could work and making it a heavenly place, or we could destroy it into a hellish place.

If we create situations that are fucked up and perpetuate evil, then another "I" will be forced to experience that evil eventually.  This is also my concept of Karma.  It's not that all my deeds are weighed against me and then I'm judged- that concept is a control mechanism.  To me, Karma means that when I do something wrong or bad to someone else, on the deepest sense I am doing wrong to myself as we come from the same source and have the same soul AKA God.


edit:  Each raindrop has its own volume, each snowflake its own pattern.  But they are all just water.  We are the raindrops of the Universe.  We each have our own traits (spirit), but we are just energy (soul).

Like I said, I don't know how true it is, but delusion wouldn't explain away them knowing (and having these memories confirmed by close friends and family of the deceased) very specific details only that person could've known. I've watched a lot of documentaries on the subject.

Anyone who believes without a doubt that there is no divine power is delusional. Its all the same really. Gnostic athiest, gnostic theist. Both claim to know the unknowable.

From that perspective - perhaps it could be postulated that certain people have been able to tap into the overlaying consciousness of humanity and extract information from a life they (and everyone else) lived... the purpose of this potentially being that learning such information is vital/useful to their growth. :shrug:

On my last acid trip, the mind fuck I had was so intense that the only thought I could form was reincarnation. I also, concurrently, had a vision of infinite life as well as humanity's evolution towards God-like consciousness. I realized that we are eternal, and that we never die. We just keep on reincarnating for the sake of Love. Too bad my experience can't be objectively verified for all you scientific suckers...

So yeah, I don't believe in reincarnation. Rather, I know reincarnation as an experience. I've also read one of Osho's books and he remembers his past life.
