You can get your CCW permit, but definitely look into the self defense laws... Once you pull that trigger, you will be in court for a long time. I know that where I live, if someone breaks into my house, I have the right to take him out. Taking another persons life is something that shouldn't be taken lightly, but I'll do what I need to do to protect my family.

If you hadn't ran one of them over I would say dont worry.  but you did and they're probably pissed about it.  nothing may come of it at all but for your sake just dont let your guard down for a little bit, im sure it will blow over with time

mav good on you for keeping your calm, i wouldn't worry too much but also would not put myself in vulnerable situations for awhile, get a new ride and things should be all clear.

im with you on the whole well fuck you if i happen to run you over deal as well.

would guess these are all punks with little to do with real crime outside of proving how hard they are to one another. they will learn when they bite too much off as in this case and the dice roll the wrong way.

A semi auto shotgun loaded with # 2 shot would be far more effective in the case of a home invasion. You'd probably hit more than 1 with the first shot. And ruin their days.  And can be had for a relatively good price.

Buy a couple of AR's they're really cheap rifles but they're very accurate.
Get some cameras and motion sensors, upgrade some of your locks. You'd be surprised how easy it is to pick locks, me and my friends used to break in to houses during the day with just jigler sets.

A lot of people keep their windows unlocked. Pop the screen and crawl in. Screen doors in the back are often unlocked too.
