The Beatles VS The Stones

The Beatles or the Rolling Stones?

I prefer the Stones just because I like hard/blues rock a bit more than the Beatles poppy-psychedelic sound.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the two psychedelic albums (Between the Buttons and Their Satanic Majesties Request) that the Stones did and I love some of the Beatles stuff (Sgt. Pepper, Revolver, Abbey Road mainly), but the Stones just really hit it home for me.

What's your opinion?

Lennon and Mcartney were a couple of artistic geniuses. I don't know how there would be much debate about the most talented group. I prefer the Beatles sound, maybe drinking a lot of booze the stones would became more competitive.

The main thing I dislike about the majority of Beatles fans, is that they always talk about how great McCartney is and Lennon was.

In reality, George Harrison was without doubt the most talented Beatle and never gets the credit he deserves.

Could just be because I'm more of a Stones fan though and Harrison was the Stonesiest of the group.

I prefer the Beatles and in the end because I think you could objectively say they have a way more diverse catalogue.
The stones were GREAT blues rock
Amazing blues rock
but they aren't anything else besides blues rock.

The Beatles are pop/avantgarde/protometal/ska/folk...They
are simply way more musically complex.

But with that said,
I've heard so much stones and beatles through out my life
It's rare that I will purposely listen to either
and when I do
It's a small, particular set of songs.

Sorry, but it's an undeniable fact that the Beatles are a far better group than the Stones, with far more accomplishments, better songwriting capabilities, better musicianship, FAR better lead vocal/harmony abilities, and obviously a FAR better catalogue of albums which is the most obvious fact.

I mean, the Stones tried to compete with Sgt. Pepper's by recording Their Satanic Majesties Request, lol, nice try guys but that album was nothing short of trash with a few a good tunes thrown in. Which is what all Stones albums were... crap, with the hits being the only good songs thrown on each album.

I respect the Stones, don't get me wrong, and I do enjoy their very early blues stuff, but as far as talent, I don't know how they even made it that big. I'll give it to Keith Richards for writing some of the greatest blues riffs ever, but otherwise I just don't see it. :shrug:

Comparing two totally different bands, and I love both so it's tough. As far as musicianship goes, Zeppelin had John Paul Jones and John Bonham, one of the greatest rhythm sections ever. With the exception of David Gilmour and Richard Wright, Floyd were nothing but mediocre musicians. However, they experimented like no other and wrote some amazing songs, and were one of the pioneering bands when it came to concept albums, so for me, if I had to choose between Zeppelin or Floyd I'd just tell you it depends what mood I'm in.

I probably like Zeppelin slightly more than Floyd, the only problem I have with Zeppelin is every single song is heard on the radio constantly, so I'm sick of them, then again, the same goes for Floyd. Another similarity is that I can't stand anything Zeppelin did after Led Zeppelin IV, Plant's voice was shot after that, and I can't stand anything Floyd did after Dark Side Of The Moon, they became commercial and boring after that album, and they couldn't top it, that raised the bar for them and in my opinion they haven't come close since.

Totally different time though. The Beatles were innovators, and the Stones likely copied them at every turn. Talk about any aspect of music, The Beatles paved the way. There has still never been albums as well produced, arranged, written or engineered as some of those Beatles albums. You can't actually compare Bieber to the Beatles, it just can't be done.

Sure I can; I just did. People like to swing on the Beatles nutsacks, but they're overrated. Beatles were the sugar pop of the 60s.

in the early 60s yes, but honestly their early work is not why theyre remembered. its their later more psychedelic music that made them remembered, and great

i really like the beatles but idk shit about their early work cuz it is pop bullshit. couldnt name more than a couple of those songs

the stones were just not that good
