I generally do not listen to most classic rock.
It's old music.
I want to hear now
and there's plenty of great music these days.

I don't listen to Grateful Dead too much. I like very very few of their songs. Same with Led Zeppelin. I absolutely LOVE Pink Floyd.

That is all.

i dont think that pink folyd and Led zepplin should ever be compared to the grateful dead. both pink floyd and led zepplin are way over-rated, and as for the grateful dead, they are far better than either of the others.

We stopped talking about this TWO YEARS AGO.  You even got a warning page about resurrecting old threads.  Was this necessary?

It's an acquired taste...

You really have to feel the music to be able to best enjoy it.  Led Zeppelin has such a raw sound to it.  The bass is insane and if you've ever seen any videos (ex: The Song Remains the Same) you can see how much Robert Plant puts into his music.  It's like he's in a trance the entire time!

Pink Floyd is on their own level.  They produced some of the sickest music I've ever heard.  They can make you feel high if you're listening to them sober, and if you listen to them high you end up flying.  They really know how to carry you through a trip or even just some light meditation.

Newbie I know your a big Zep fan. You really ought to check out some bootlegs of them. The MSG 1973 shows are legendary of course.. but you haven't heard anything till you've seen/heard the 1975 Earls Court shows. That's Zeppelin at their pinnacle imo. They did like 6 shows for Earls court. I can PM you some links later if you want, but I gotta get going

Well for one,

Led Zeppelin isn't psychedelic (except for some versions of some songs, but I don't think anyone would call them a psychedelic band, and they don't really pair up with Pink Floyd that well, but I love them almost as much as Led Zeppelin )

you can't NOT like Led Zeppelin, that's just "Being a human being" rule #1.

You don't like Rock and Roll, Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Immigrant Song??? And that's just some of their radio hits... Led Zeppelin is the greatest band of all time. It's a fact.

Anyway,

Pink Floyd takes a bit of getting used to, they're my 2nd or 3rd favorite band, Dark Side of the Moon is my favorite album of all time. I can understand why some might not like them.

I only like 5-6 songs from the Grateful Dead though, I think they shined WAYYY more in their live shows then in the studio recordings, kind of like Led Zeppelin, except Led Zeppelin's studio recordings were amazing in their own write.

All I really listen too is blues hard rock, Cream, Hendrix, Zep, Pink Floyd, plus a ton of other bands from around that same time period. As Bob Seger said, I like that old time rock n roll.

Sure there's some talented musicians around today, but they're nowhere near as good as the musicians from the "olden days". Today musicians stick to a formula, a formula that works and sells, but doesn't advance anything, or take any imagination. I could go on forever about this, but I'll leave it at that. I just don't think music of the last ~15 years has been up to par, or anywhere near it. /rant

gahh, didn't notice this was 2 years old.

Zepplin is one of the most annoying bands in the world. I can't fucking stand them, I'd love to destroy my dads cassette, Atrac, vinyl and cd collection of every single fucking zepplin album but I'm not an asshole like that

I hate the grateful dead, bunch of hippies.

Pink Floyd though, they kick ass! Best band in the world.

Love those bands!

But I don't like the Beatles so I can relate.
