 Understanding and Awe

I wuz just thinking today about how, for some people,
understanding something makes them appreciate it more - like
scientists. On the other hand, for some people, understanding
things makes them appreciate it less (see footnote 1), e.g. we're not quite as fascinated by the moon as our ancestors, cauze we know
more about it. Krishnamurti and some others seem to suggest
the complete understanding of something deflates it's power.
However, they apply this only to undesirable emotions and
never seem to apply it to desirable emotions/behavior, like
laughing and being happy. Others seem to suggest that understanding
is not sufficient on it's own, e.g. if I explain all the
evolutionary reasons why roaches are ugly creatures, it
probably won't dissipate your opinion that roaches are ugly...
I'm wondering what role understanding plays in your appreciation
of something. This ties into the idea of something being "New".

1. I was going to say that artists r like this
too, but then realized that they are not. they're more like
scientists, they just have a different understanding of their
art, which is broken down not into physics but their own system

I like having a good understanding of what is going on, I guess. We might know now that the Moon is "just" the Moon, but that doesn't take away from its Moonieness. 
That's just the way I think, though. hehe

Hhhm... could these awesome twins (let's pretend that they are half Swedish and half Asian) have sex with me outside so that I could stare at the moon while we were having sex?
