black stuff on the caps

Alright, my dog's playmate has this casing, and some of the boys get some black stuff on top, however, it doesn't go all the way through, it's just like a little filmy and can be wiped off, underneath and the side looks fine, and they smell marvelous, what's the deal? BTW, it's definitely not water on top that would be causing rot, because there is no water on top (if that makes sense).

That's exactly it, now, increasing air flow will help this, right?

I think I may have a related question.
I've got a casing in my terrarium that's fruiting right now (thanks to all of you) and a few of my mushrooms have developed a blue ring just underneath the cap where the veil is forming. Is this normal? I haven't touched any of the mushrooms at all.
Thanks for any help.

By the way, they're all almost two inches in height so I don't think they're aborts (unless mushrooms can abort at any stage).

Is this a joke?

Mushrooms can abort at any stage. If the cap is turning blue where it is attached to the veil, then the mushroom has usually aborted. I've never seen the stem turn blue below the veil though. If the shroom doesn't grow any and the cap doesn't open in a day or two, it's over man. I've seen nice 6 inch mushrooms abort right before the cap opens. It just happens. Often because of negelect in my case though.

Thanks.
I just usually thought of aborts in terms of little tiny mushrooms. But I guess I was wrong.

Is therea reason to be an asshole Demiurge? It mentioned something about airflow, so I thought it would be a reasonable assumption.

What it mentioned is that the slightest airflow will carry spores from the mushrooms gills to the mushrooms top and therefore deposit spores there. You are waiting a little too long to harvest, but there is no harm done.

Really? Too long? The shrooms of his are phenomenally small, like two to three inches....are they really supposed to be that small for this strain?
